Create an Ancestral Altar

Create an Ancestral Altar
November 1
Monday
Day of the Dead - All Saints' Day
Color of the day: Gray
Incense of the day: Clary sage
Traditionally celebrated November 1 and 2, Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the
Dead, is a celebration of the Beloved Dead in Mexico. Families gather at the
graves of their dearly departed to share a meal and give food and gifts. Large
and elaborate altars are created with pictures of their beloved friends, foods
they liked, special possessions, and plenty of orange marigolds. Many of them
also display religious icons such as the Virgin Mary and Jesus. Though many of
the original practices have been Christianized or lost to antiquity, scholars
trace the origins of this holiday back thousands of years to the indigenous
Aztec tribes. The festivities would be dedicated to Mictecacihuatl, goddess of
the dead. As Christianity became more prominent, the practices blended with All
Saints' Day. Create your own Dia de los Muertos altar by gathering pictures of
your beloved dead, trinkets, flowers, and candles. Leave the altar up for the
day or make it a permanent part of your home.

Elder's Meditation of the Day November 1
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Elder's Meditation of the Day November 1
"Times change but principles do not. Times change but lands do not. Times
change but our culture and our language remain the same. And that's what you
have to keep intact. It's not what you wear - it's what's in your heart."
--Oren Lyons, ONONDAGA
Going back to the old ways doesn't mean giving up electricity, homes, and cars.
It means living by the same principles, laws, and values that our ancestors
lived by. This will allow us to live successfully in today's world. The
spirituality our ancestors lived is the same spirituality we need in these
modern times. There are too many influences from TV, radio, newspapers,
magazines, and negative role models that are guiding our lives in a bad way.
Our stability is in the laws, principles, and values that our ancestors were
given and that our Elders teach us.
Great Spirit, let me live my life in a spiritual way.

Aromatherapy Tip of the Day.....Change of Seasons
As the seasons change and we are inside more keep in mind that
essential oils are very effective for sore
throats, voice loss and colds. Use as a gargle
filling a glass half full with warm water.
Add 2-3 drops of soothing oils such as Sandalwood
and Roman Chamomile and of course Tea Tree.
Stir well, take a mouthful, gargle and spit it out.
Repeat being sure to stir first to disperse the oils.

How much would it be if I provide my own tables, say a 10x10 booth? I sell
lots of general merchandise, such as incense, oils, athames, figurines,
t-shirts, etc...

Hi and Welcome to all our newest members, our group gives off a lot

Also anyone who has online stores or links to thier personal stores, we have in our link section a folder called "Witches Mall" you are more then welcome to add your stores in there so we can shop off our group!
Files, links, photos, calendar is open to everyone, feel free to use and add new info if you like, photo albums, everything is open to everyone here.
On our Database, for all you Myspace people, there is a table in there to add your link to your sites also and a table for specialties for anyone that is interested in adding thier info in there to help in emergencies like: Venders, food, supplies, anything for event's. That's a big help if anyone is interested in leaving thier info in there.

Moving on....Don't let it end...Here are my New Jersey Pagan Links!
With Face book on the up rise yahoo groups are quieting down, I have made some groups on facebook with our friends on it, here are the links for those that are on or interested in keeping chat going...
We have been together for such a long time lets keep it going.
First off.....Use us...Don't Forget what NJP & our Sisters Groups are Really About
New Jersey Pagan Yahoo group has all the info on there, Stores, Dates, advertisements, 1500 NJ Members to chat with (About 5000 total with all members on each service), Database and files full of info, active calender to share reminders and more!
I am not closing the groups down but if you need anything that is where I have it all, I can not chase everyone all over Face book, if you want your stuff to be sent out I need it posted on New Jersey Pagans or Which Witch is Witch Yahoo groups!!
Some do have my emails that send me info but the Yahoo group is my base group and if you want to continue things moving in NJ and our neighboring states...I suggest keeping that group active by stopping in and sharing with us!
I'm not going to continue if it's a dead group, I've support everyone for years so would appreciate support back by keeping this group moving so we can share what's going on around us and stay together as a community, I'm asking that I am not the only one trying!! Cher
Reminder...Again!
NJP Face book Page and group, the NJP Yahoo groups and the My space page is for everyone's use, please use it to post your meet ups, stores, share info, events, links, photos, learning materials, ect ect...That's what the groups are for, I made it for all our use so don't hesitate, also if your new to the belief use NJP groups to ask questions, we have a lot of experienced people here and they love to share their experiences. Also the Which Witch is Witch and Lifes a Witch groups are for outside of NJ for those that want to share events, meets, ect like listed above.
We encourage you to USE US! We will help get the word out!
Hugs

Stone Soup Opening up and Sharing Emotions
Today lets make our Brew together, remember that story of stone soup?
Lets beging with adding things to our pot, this is a sort of meditation and does take imagination and visualization, you have to live and feel the part of our brew as we share together.
What I'm going to suggest is that simply you say one thing that is bothering you or making you feel down about yourself or life, visualize yourself standing in front of the couldron, feel the heat and see the brightness of the fire glow around the pot and against your body, simply then think of something that would help you or make you feel better and can even be something nice towards someone/or memory to make you feel better then we toss that into the pot as an ingredient. After you toss your Positive good thoughts you will then take a large paddle and stir the brew and as you turn it 3 times you will say your new positive intention and then we move on to the next person until all our good intents are then made into this large good soup together where we heal and share our feelings and friendships.
Ok lets begine, I close my eyes and visualize a huge black cauldron over an amazingly large fire, flames appear soft and wrap it's arms around that pot as it begins to bubble and steam rises as if arms and little hands hold that pot tight for us to add all our good intensions and good ol positive energy full of healing, happiness, friendship and love!
So I walk up to this amazing Pot and I'm going to share:
Next Person Please add your intents to the pot
Cher's Ingredients:
Tired of Arguments that make me feel like I'm invisible with my family so for today only, I will not argue and let these things bother me
I surrender myself and will be the better person and do something that makes me happy today....I think of potatoes LOL because they can change into so many different things as you cook them and I am amazing all all those different ways. I toss my thoughts of good will to myself in the pot and stirr the paddle three times...thank you for listening to my problems today ... Read More... Read More
Blessed Be!

Dream Interpretations?
Posted by: "krissybear955@yahoo.com" krissybear955@yahoo.com krissybear955
Mon Nov 1, 2010 3:18 pm (PDT)
My friend wanted me to ask if anyone could help me understand this dream she had so that I can pass the knowledge onto her. Ok so in her dream, she was an the Titanic with her baby girl when suddenly it started to sink. In the dream, she could see the nose tipping and everything. Well, she saw that all the life boats had been taken, but there was one life vest left, so she took it and dived off the boat, baby in arms. She crashed into the cold water, hardly able to escape it, when a woman pulled her onto a life boat. It was then she realized that her small baby had stopped breathing. She tried everything to revive it, but the child was lost. They had to forcefully take the baby from her and lay it in it's watery grave, all the while she screamed, "My baby, my baby!"
Anyone have any ideas?

Fw: News from Souls Journey

November 2010 Horoscopes
By Jacqueline
We welcome in the fall with the change of season and look forward to changes
within ourselves as the earth enters it's winter cycle. The New Moon in Scorpio
on the 6th brings with it a melody that allows us to take measures to
transform what isn't serving you. Neptune is going Direct on the 7th which lifts
the veil of obscurity affording us the opportunity to clearly see beyond the
haze and view the world in a positive light. As Venus retrogrades into Libra on
that same day, we have the ability to bring focus and balance into the things we
love with renewed energy and vigor. Next, Mercury goes into Sagittarius on the
8th, bringing us the fire we need to move forward in the right direction. On the
18th, Jupiter and Venus go direct giving us the protection and love we need to
accomplish our desires. The full moon on the 21st again is void of course on the
cusp of Taurus, softening that hard transition and allowing us to see the beauty
through the muck. Venus returns to Scorpio on the 29th making the full circle in
transforming what we love.
Aries March 23 - April 22
No time to sit, no time for worries as you are constantly on the go! With Mars
in Sagittarius and the part of fortune in your sign, you'll find yourself in the
right position to take that leap of faith that you've been fearful of and once
you've done it, you'll wonder why you didn't't before. And while you're on a
roll, why not an adventure have; take that mini vacation; you've earned it, so
enjoy!
Taurus April 23 - May 22
You've dotted your I's, you've crossed your t's, now is the time to relax and
enjoy some "me" time. Other's will try to draw you into their dramas but you're
strong, wise and intuitive to know what battles you need to be involved in,
don't give in to pettiness. Utilize your leadership skills, listen and
compromise and all will be righteous in the end.
Gemini May 23 - June 22
As a Black Hole draws in all matter, the vortex in your sign is drawing you in
to situations beyond your control. Don't let yourself be overwhelmed. Take
events as they come, analyze your true course of action and follow through one
at a time. Future plans may have to be put on hold but they will return.
Remember good things come to those who wait and your patience will be rewarded.
Cancer June 23 - July 22
The roller coaster ride you're about to experience will test your true mettle.
Now is not the time for you to go it alone. Allow your fire friends to add their
expertise and assistance; they are willing to aid you in any way possible to
lighten your load and be supportive of your endeavors. Keep your focus on each
task and don't try to multi task. Worries about time restraints will only slow
you down. All will be accomplished in due time, don't rush it or you will
falter.
Leo July 23 - August 22
The events of last month have finally subsided affording you the time to relax
and breathe easy. Use this opportunity to let your hair down treat yourself.
Have some fun; take a vacation or socialize with others who can make you laugh.
Part of fortune is in your sign now. Use it to speak out and take risks you
normally wouldn't't. If you do, you may be surprised at what happens.
Virgo August 23 - September 22
With Neptune and Chiron making their final opposition to you and you're wanting
to get away from the drama. Mars is pushing you even more to get away. Listen to
your inner child, take a break. Indulge in an activity that you enjoy alone or
with others. After the 18th, use your feelings and not your thoughts to control
your actions and you'll find that it all works out for the best.
Libra September 23 - October 22
There has never been a better time than now to adopt the philosophy of if you
can't have fun why do it as more responsibilities put on your shoulders. It is
your time to stand up for your truth. Find the Joy in all you're doing and it
won't seem like work at all. Comedy and humor will replace the doldrums and work
won't be so tedious at all. Have fun, you're contagious when you're happy.
Scorpio October 23 - November 22
Happy solar return! Now is the time to get back to the basics by organizing your
environment. Don't analyze, don't ask why, you've put off this task long enough.
Life is presenting you with many opportunities now and you must pick and choose
what you truly want in your life and get rid of the rest. Remember to treat
yourself with something decadent for your birthday!
Sagittarius November 23 - December 22
Mars in your sign has lit a fire under you this month and you find yourself in
the fast lane. Your confidence and decidedness becomes the model for all to
aspire and you can make those big changes that you've been holding off doing.
Your charismatic posture will cause friends and coworkers beckoning to bask in
your energy as things happen if by magic without great effort on your part. Use
this to your advantage and make things happen. The part of fortune is trining
you; luck is on your side.
Capricorn December 23 - January 22
This is the calm before the storm. You have a big transition coming in December
so you need to prepare. So batten down the hatches and secure all lines. Take
stock in your own self sufficiency and work towards your independence. You'll
find fun and comfort coming from the most unusual people and situations, so be
curious and ask more questions now.
Aquarius January 23 - February 22
With Neptune going direct, the barriers that have been in your way are being
moved. So it's full steam ahead. Your fire sign friends and you working together
will be an unbeatable combination. Be the leader and start the party early for
the holidays. You'll find your social gatherings not only pleasurable but
enlightening and productive.
Pisces February 23 - March 22
It's time to take a vacation or travel away from those around you. Mars is
making you frustrated with your feelings and/or others actions; this to shall
pass. Be like tinker bell, never stay in one place to long. You're intuitive
abilities are strong. If it feels good do it, if not walk away and ignore the
drama.
For those who want to know:
The final planet in the zodiac is Pluto and I've waited to make it last because
of where it's placed now. Pluto is the smallest and slowest moving planet in our
solar system. Some have even discounted it as not a planet. I'm not surprised
because of its transformative quality it has a destroying or reforming urge to
it. The one thing is that you can't hide from its massive energy. It is ruled by
Scorpio which makes its actions deep and intense. It takes 21 years to go
through one sign and 250 years for all 12. Right now Pluto is in Capricorn. So,
all on this earth are going through foundational changes in their life. So go
back to the simple basic truth and rules of life. Rebuild the foundation of your
life on your truth and not others and once this transition is finished you'll
have the peace and happiness you're looking for.

Energy Clearing and Tools for Manifesting
by Maggie Angel
Here are some quick and easy ways to keep your energy in sync:
First, make the choice to be open to your highest and best good. Give
yourself space to BE more than what your mind can conceive. Choose to gently
be aware of your feelings. Take a deep cleansing breath. Become aware of what
is happening with you - emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Give yourself permission to release anything which you are holding on to which
is not yours. Also let go of anything which no longer serves you. Breathe it
out and let it go. Allow for a moment of emptiness. Now close your eyes and
surround yourself with Divine white light. Breathe in the light. Sit in the
glow. Invite your true self to come back into alignment. Give yourself
permission to be in tune with your path
Give yourself permission to say YES to new and wonderful people, events and
experiences. "And so it is"
Work with Archangel Michael using these tools:
Manifesting - set an Intention and believe that it can happen.
For communication - Set a filter (via your minds eye) to act as a buffer so
that only the pure message of your heart gets across
Hold up Mirrors - So that they can reflect back the ego and other people's stuff
to them such as ego, arrogance, anger, jealousy.
Shields - Use them for Protection of all kinds especially at work and in large
crowds.
Armored Suit - Complete Protection so that all is blocked (good in large groups
or tension at
work)
Vacuuming - ask for AM and his band of mercy Angels to vacuum away any energy
that is clogging your aura and is weighing you down.
Cutting Cords - ask that all cords that are connecting you to any person, place
or thing that is no longer serving your highest good and higher version of
yourself be severed and removed. Cutting cords also helps to rebuild positive
relationships without co-dependence. Cutting cords and clearing your energy is
empowering and a great place to start before manifesting... As you release
another, or others, you begin to take back what was yours. If you focus on the
loss, it can become confusing. But, if you focus on the freedom from the
entanglement, you will gain the power, strength and motivation of self. You
are the creator. Look at this cutting away as relieving yourself from the
debris that has kept you stuck and estranged from your own soul.
You have a beautiful soul of love and light. Look to your light and allow
that light to shine. I embrace your courage and your strength. You are
Love, ***Remember to celebrate your life and know that good things are possible
*** You have done great things in 2010 and hurdled many challenges. 2011 will
be a Magical Prosperous Year for You!!
Manifesting Q & A
with Maggie and The Angels.
Q: What does it mean to Co-Create our reality and how do I do it? (Sarah in CA)
A: You actually already know how co-creation works. You are co-creating your
dreams, wishes and intentions right alongside God, The Universe, The Angels,
Your Guides or whatever you believe the Higher Power to be.
You ask and you receive. It's just this simple. Ask, receive. Choose with
your heart. You know the drill, but for some of you, there is this delay.
It is a delay of fear. Fear of what will happen if this really works. And it
does. It works alright. It works and is so powerful that it can become
overwhelming at times. All you really have to do is hold the thoughts of what
you want and feel the feelings of already having it. Hold the thought, feel
the feeling and then, believe it or not, just let it go. That's right. Let it
go and simply expect. That's how creation works. It's just a story.
You have your very own amazing, beautiful story. What do you wish to see in the
next chapter?
There Will Be a Test
Throughout my life, my father would say to me, "Pay attention - there will be a
test." Whether the lesson was how to drive, cook, shoot, change a tire -
something I had to learn before I was allowed to drive a car - or the difference
between a Philips or standard screwdriver, my father would snag my wandering
attention by telling me, "Pay attention, there will be a test." As someone who
took school very seriously (what can I say? I'm a nerd) telling me that there
would be a test ensured my complete, albeit anxious, attention.
Around the age of 19 or so, my father and I were in the garage and he was
explaining to me how to use something - I honestly can't remember if it was the
air compressor or the welding equipment - and he said, "Pay attention - there
will be a test."
Being a bit of a pain in the butt during my teenage years, I said, "When?
When's the test? You've been telling me my whole life that there is going to be
a test, but there never is!"
My father looked at me very calmly and said, "Life is the test."
Then he walked rather smugly into the house.
On September 29, 2010 my father passed from this world into the next. The
wonderful members of Soul's Journey Lightworkers, SIACAP, SIPA, Daughters of the
Sacred Torch, and many other loving and kind Reiki practitioners sent Reiki to
help with his transition to the next world. My mother, who has worked as a
hospice nurse for over 30 years said it was one of the most peaceful passings
she had witnessed.
One of the great things about the spiritual community and Reiki community is
their willingness to help those in need. The support and love this community
has given to me has been immeasurable. I honestly believe that without this
support, I would be dwelling on the death of my father instead of celebrating
his life.
Going through all of the pictures of my father's life, I realized how rich his
life and ours had been. Trying to list all of the things my father taught me
would turn into a book, but I can list some of the experiences I've had that I
wouldn't have had otherwise. Thanks to my father I've water skiied, snow
skiied, bungee jumped, seen oceans and mountains, pet sharks, dolphins and many
other animals, visited Europe, and much more.
Unlike many of my pagan brethren, I always had a very easy time of being Wiccan
with my family, mainly due to my father's open mind. When I first became
Wiccan, he asked a lot of questions and even read several books - I think he was
initially worried I'd joined some sort of cult, but he reserved his judgment
until he had researched Wicca. After finishing one of the books he remarked on
how it was very similar to how he had always believed. My father was very big
on understanding what was going on first, then making a judgment call.
Part of why he was so open to my pagan path was his deep love of nature. Every
spring, the first sunny and warm day after a rainfall, my family would go morel
hunting. My parent's would call off work, they would call us in sick for the
day, and the whole family would go out into the woods to hunt for morels. It
was always a rejuvenating and fun tradition.
Any time there was a turtle in the road, my dad would stop to save it.
Something all three of his daughters still do to this day. As a matter of fact,
I knew my husband was the man for me when I pulled over to the side of the road
to save a turtle and instead of having to explain my actions to him, he just
hopped out and escorted the turtle to the other side of a road.
Above all else, my father loved birds, especially birds of prey. He regularly
gave donations to Treehouse, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation charity in the
River Bend area similar to our local Free Again. One of his favorite birds was
the red tailed hawk. We would take various car trips and have contests to see
which family member could spot the most hawks.
Lately, the hawks have been saying hello. The number of hawks that have been
very conspicuous in my presence has really grown in the weeks since my father
died. There was one that
even seemed to be waving at me, but my rational brain would insist that this was
just wishful thinking. However, yesterday my younger sister and I were driving
when my older sister called. We put her on speakerphone so we could all three
talk, and that was when a huge hawk, lit almost golden by the sun, flew by us.
In what was mere seconds later, my older sister saw a red tailed hawk fly by as
well. This happy coincidence again occurred a few hours later when my older
sister called and spoke with us again. My mother and younger sister recently
bought a new vehicle and while test driving it together they wondered aloud if
my father would like it and a red tailed hawk flew mere feet right over the
vehicle, as if in approval. While I already believe quite firmly in the
afterlife, the recent behavior of the hawks has really confirmed for me that the
spirit does go on and after our loved ones have passed, they do find ways to say
hi.
We were all very lucky to have my father in the world. He stopped for people on
the side of the road, in winter he would pull cars out of ditches just to be
nice, and he saved many, many turtles. He was a force of good in the world that
will be sorely missed.
For every house repair, car repair, or other major decision in my life, I would
call and talk to my dad. His approval and support, not to mention his vast
knowledge, were always a comfort and a help. There have been many times
recently where I think I should ask Dad about something, but unfortunately, I
can't. I keep thinking that life without him is really is the biggest test and
I am glad that I was paying attention.
Thanks!

For many people money and finances are the main problem area in life, creating
the most concern, stress and worry. The truth is that we create our own reality.
We are responsible for everything that happens to us. By understanding that
money or the lack of it is not the problem, it is simply the symptom of another
problem – your limiting, negative thoughts and beliefs, you will be able to move
forward to happy and joyful life. Your Outer World is just a reflection of your
inner world. To change our results or to remove the block, we must change our
thoughts. Changing your mind about money is the most important. Using the power
of visualizations and meditation we will remove the blocks from your heart and
mind, and help you see that the obstacles are actually great opportunities for a
spiritual growth. The mighty Archangels Raphael and Michael will work with us on
releasing relationship pain and healing the heart.

Today's Goddess: Today's Goddess: Nephthys All Soul's Day
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Mon Nov 1, 2010 8:28 pm (PDT)
Today's Goddess: Today's Goddess: Nephthys
All Soul's Day
Themes: Death, Ghosts, Rebirth, Devotion
Symbols: Sunset, Hawk (her sacred animal)
To Do Today: Following on the heels of Hallows ad All Saint's Day, this festival
hones the faithful departed. In early times
children would go "souling", collecting small cakes believed to rescue souls
from purgatory. In keeping with this idea,
go out at sunset to honor Nephthys with a small cake or cracker. Leave this in a
natural location and ask the Goddess
to bring peace to any restless souls in her care.
Oddly enough, Romans announced engagements today (likely a way of stressing
life's continuance. So if you' ve
been thinking of deepening a relationship, or making a commitment to a beloved
project, this is one date that might
suit the occasion. Again, go outside at sunset and as the sun slips behind the
horizon pray to the Goddess. Tell her
your goal to speak your pledges in her name. Ask her to rejuvenate your
determination so that tomorrow you might be
born anew to your task or relationship.

Spell A Day - Letter to the Deceased Ritual

Spell A Day - Letter to the Deceased Ritual
Incense of the day: Gardenia
This was one of the days the ancient Romans set aside to communicate with the
dead. During November, the spirit world is drawn closer to us, making it
easier to contact those who have departed this earth. One way is to write a
letter to the deceased. This is a very loving and solemn act which shouldn't be
taken lightly. Begin the ritual in the evening at dusk. On a bare-wood table
place the following: three candles, (one black, two white), one white feather,
a piece of white paper, a black-ink pen, and a photograph of the deceased.
Light all the candles and say: "You who have passed through heaven's gate, you
who I mourn—receive this letter I'm about to write." Write your message using
whatever words are on your mind. End the letter by wishing the spirit peace and
rest. Extinguish the candles and fan the smoke toward heaven with the feather.
Bury the letter facing the west. Your letter has been received.

WILDCRAFTING
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Mon Nov 1, 2010 8:37 pm (PDT)
WILDCRAFTING
Early November brings on thoughts of mushroom hunting, gathering walnuts and
digging medicinal roots. In my wandering
along the creek and surrounding areas, I have located two walnut trees. The nuts
are easy to gather but it
will take some time to clean off the black outer casing. I soak the nuts for a
short time and then begin scrubbing with a stiff
brush. You don't want to soak walnuts for a long time as water will absorb
through the shells and possibly spoil the meat inside.
I dry them thoroughly in a mesh bag (such as onions come in) by the woodstove.
Walnuts are a good source of protein and
shelling them can be a great family pastime.
Digging up medicinal roots such as Echinacea and Oregon Grape is best done in
the fall after the plants are dormant. Echinacea
is grown in the garden. The root systems are somewhat fine though they can be
rather large in older plants. It's best to
harvest plants that are 3 years old as they have reached their maximum potency.
Clean the dirt off thoroughly then layer loosely
on paper in an open box to dry or you can chop them into small pieces, put in a
jar, and cover with 100 proof Vodka to make your
own tincture. Keep covered and shake daily for 2-3 weeks. Then strain and save
for use.
Oregon Grape is an evergreen shrub that grows very prolifically and is quite
common. It's coarse red and green leaves are very
similar to Holly and I have used them in Christmas greenery displays. Oregon
Grape's medicinal qualities are much the same
as Goldenseal and can be substituted as such. Wild Goldenseal is becoming
increasingly hard to find and becoming an endangered species so using Oregon
Grape instead can help to let the species repopulate.
Oregon Grape's roots are very woody. I suggest you use it right away. Long ago I
harvested some, dried it and stored it away.
They became rock hard pieces of wood. Use Oregon Grape the same as you would
Goldenseal, for infections, as a blood purifier,
liver conditions, and skin diseases.
Both Echinacea and Oregon Grape can be grown and harvested as cash crops.

Well, who's Tony?
and where in hell (New Jersey) do you find Oregon grape? It happens to grow withing a bowshot of my house, but what time of year does your tony gather theirs?

~Scottish Death Lament

My dearest friend, why did you die?
Why did you need to go away?
Now, when I am hungry, who will feed me?
When I am cold, who will warm me?
When I need shelter, whose hearth will I seek?
When I need company, whose house will be warm?
It was never your way to be gloomy and sad.
If you were here, you would be serving us tea.
~Scottish Death Lament
Each one of us, during our lives, suffers many losses. Most significant are
the deaths of people we loved and who loved us in return. Most painful are the
deaths of those who we loved, but who never gave us what we desired, for all
hope is then cut off.
There is even pain in the deaths of those whom we disliked, for hatred is a form
of connection that death severs.
But there are other losses we must mourn. A pet who loved us, a special dream,
a dear possession - we lose these, and more, during our lifetimes. Grief, with
its attendant angers and outrage, is an uncomfortable emotion for others to
experience. Yet grief can poison us, if unexpressed. Finding ways to grieve
fully is a challenge. But, if we do not meet it, we grow twisted in our pain.

*More incentive....Karen*
Dear Motherpeace Friend:
Okay, as jaded as I am about the political discourse taking place in
this country and the absolute farce of the so-called "two party system,"
I was touched by this piece written by one of my Masters students on why
women need to get out there and vote. She's right, you know.
http://www.tonic.com/article/ 9-reasons- women-need- to-vote-this- election- day0-anea- bogue/
So do what I am doing: Stop thinking about it and JUST DO IT. It's worse
not to.
Blessings, Vicki
