Healing for Japan Ritual
March 2011

On an altar or table, place one or more symbols of Japan. This could be a
print-out of a small map of Japan, an image of the flag of Japan, the name Japan
written on a card, or an object that came from Japan.

Also place a Sun image to represent the Japanese Sun Goddess as Amaterasu
Omikami. This might take the form of a solar symbol, glyph, or a traditional or
contemporary Amaterasu rendition.

In addition, place symbols of the Elements of Nature, such as a small rock or
stone for Earth, a lit incense stick in a holder for Air, a lit candle in a
candle holder for Fire, a bowl of clean water for Water, and a quartz crystal
for Spirit.

If possible, also have available some time of musical instrument to sound during
the rite, such as a rattle, drum, singing bowl, didgeridoo, or flute.

After assembling the items and just before performing the rite, wash your hands
with flowing water as a way of purifying yourself for the ceremony.

To begin the rite, connect with, sanctify, and honor the place where you are
doing the rite and then experience yourself connected with the larger circle of
life that is the biosphere of Planet Earth.

Spend a few moments in silence, connecting with, honoring, and asking for
assistance of the Divine according to your own spiritual path, religious
tradition, or philosophy.

Then, focus on being a conduit for spiritual healing.

Next, make a sacred sound with your voice and/or a musicial instrument, and as
you do, experience yourself connecting with others who are also involved in
spiritual healing work for Japan.

Now, focus on Japan as a whole as you sending love, compassion, strength,
support, and healing.

Call on the Elements, using associated symbols as part of prayers of relief.

Powers of Earth, aid the distribution of food and supplies to those in need.
Powers of Air, bring plentiful clean air to breathe to those in need.
Powers of Fire, restore electricity & other sources of energy to those in need.
Powers of Water, bring plentiful clean water to those in need.
Powers of Spirit, bless those in need with healing, support, resilience,
comfort, and love.
So Be It.

Make a sacred sound with your voice and/or musical instrument.

Holding or directing your attention to the Sun symbol, connect with the Sacred
Sun:

Amaterasu Omikami, Sacred Sun, help Japan, its inhabitants, and all those
impacted by these disasters.

Bless, protect, comfort, and renew the Living who have survived the earthquake,
the aftershocks, and the tsunami.
Bless those who have died and who are dying in their transitions to the
Otherworld, and comfort their living loved ones.
Bless, strengthen, and protect those doing rescue, relief, and recovery.
Bless with stamina, wisdom, and effective communication and collaboration all
those who are helping and seeking to help.
Bless, renew, and make safe the land, the waters, the air, and the nuclear power
plants.
So Be It.

Make a sacred sound with your voice and/or musical instrument.

Now do a healing and well-being meditation. This can be in silence, with
chanting, through playing a musical instrument, or a combination.

To conclude, give thanks to the sacred forces you worked with:

Spirit. Thanks to Amaterasu Omikami, Sacred Sun.

Hi to all,

I really like to help, but this is god will and non can do anything to help.

Ask the Japenese to ask themselves a questions of what they ask for and
closing others into the whole world. No man/women can help if you do not
think of others.

I'm not sure that I understand what you said.

Did you say that the Japanese don't deserve our prayers because they don't help others??

I've had to think about this a lot lately. I don't know if it's angels or spirits or ancestors, but I've definitely been protected from a lot in my life. But lately I've had to ask myself why. Sometimes something happens that makes a person take a giant step back a reexamine everything. This is what has been going on with me.
Recently, a family member's sister was in a head on collision with a tractor trailer after pulling out of a very dangerous intersection. Presently she is in critical condition, in a coma and has multiple fractures. Her mini van was so badly mangled that it's a wonder anyone made it out of there alive. Yet her four-year-old son came out of it without a scratch.
Her name is Annie and she has a sweet and vivacious personality. About a year ago her husband lost his battle with cancer and died at a young age. It was so heart breaking to see Annie after that--she was so sad. It left her two young children without a father.
When I look back at my life and recount the times when my life was spared in some way, I usually feel grateful and blessed. In light of this recent tragedy, all I feel now is confused. I don't understand why I've been saved from so much. I'm definitely not more deserving than anyone else. When I think about Annie, I actually think that between the two of us, her life has more value than mine. Her children are young and if she passes they will be left without any parents at all. My children are grown and don't have as much need as young ones. Annie was active and very much apart of life. My life has become more stagnant as I get older.
So, I believe that some of us are indeed watched over and protected-- but it has created more questions than answers for me. Here I sit writing this to you safe and protected while Annie lies in a hospital bed broken up and in a coma. There are some things in this life that I have no hope of ever understanding.

Merry Meet,
Although ive been a member for a while this is the first time ive posted so i hope it finds its way ok :-)

have you considered a protection charm?? I have a couple i use but this is one that might work best being in a small village, and with eostra coming up.
Take an egg and poke small holes at each end to empty it, fill it with cinquefoil leaf and dogwood then tape the holes. you decorate the egg with runes or some other symbol of protection.
Say the following chant ' by the dragons light, on this (month) night, i call to thee to give me your might, by the power of three, i conjure thee, to protect all that surrounds me, so mote it be.'

This should protect you and your property from harm xx

..normally, i used to, but being disabled, i have curly shoe laces that are made specifically for kids and people that are disabled, but i am OCD enough i have to have them sit and line up in a certain way... shrug.
12. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM? mocha java chip....no, its mint chocolate chip.....no, its chocolate chip cookie dough.

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED? - a few mornings ago, woke up in tears. ( one of those weird dreams i was talking about.)
a few nights ago, because i miss my love so much, and then i thought of how much i miss my daughter, and how much they make my life all that it is.

sometimes, but it is really frustrating that i am severely dyslexic and bi polar so when it acts up not only do i type 121 wpm, half of it is bass ackwards.. ;9

i would, but it would be a very slow, cautious process, as it is with those that are truly my friends. i am so careful about who i let into my life and would expect others to cherish their privacy and self importance as well.

..normally, i used to, but being disabled, i have curly shoe laces that are made specifically for kids and people that are disabled, but i am OCD enough i have to have them sit and line up in a certain way... shrug.

Thank you for answering. i think that answering in itself is a huge clue to what kind of person you are. and the answers that people give is, to me, like opening a brand new book chapter on that person and finding such wonderful gems inside. :)

The Medicine Wheel teaches the four directions of the races, Red people, Yellow people, Black people and White people. These four directions are symbolic of all races. If we are related to each other, then it is important to love one another as brother and sister, aunt and uncle, Fathers and Mothers, Grandfathers and Grandmothers. We need to care for each other and especially respect each other. We need to honor one another's differences whether that difference is the color of our skin or our opinions. We should respect differences.

Meditation for the Spiritual Warrior

In these troubling times, many people are focused on what's not working and what they do not have. And yes, while it is true that deficiencies exist, it is important to stay focused on what is working and what we do have to be grateful for in order to stay positive and hopeful for the future.

Here is a wonderful 14th Century Samurai Warrior meditation. The author is unknown, but it is a timeless piece of wisdom that I hope will inspire you to discover the Spiritual Warrior inside of you.

I have no parents:
I make the heaven and earth my parents.

I have no home:
I make awareness my home.

I have no life and death:
I make the tides of breathing my life and death.

I have no divine powers:
I make honesty my divine power.

I have no means:
I make understanding my means.

I have no secrets:

The best explanation I have heard for what spring cleaning is, and why, is
that it is a custom left over from times before electricity, when everything
in peoples' houses was covered with soot from candles, fireplaces, kerosene,
and lamp oils used for heat and light during the winter. By the spring, every
inch of the home had to be cleaned to rid it of the layer of soot.
Even in these days of relatively clean heating and lighting, it feels so
liberating to get rid of accumulated winter grime. After all, there is nothing
like the sun streaming in the windows to show all the winter dust, when the
days get longer in the spring. Like many of us, I like to do a good spring
clean, soot or no. Here are a few easy tips for safe, energizing spring
cleaning.

Cleaning without toxic chemicals is a wonderful way to turn your home into a

Know Yourself

One goal of magic is to know yourself. In turn, the better you honestly know about yourself, the more effective your magic can be.

One way to get to know yourself is to take a personal inventory test. Not necessarily one which measures mental health, but one which measures character traits and preferences. The Kiersey Temperament sorter or the Meyers-Briggs personality test are among the best of these sorts of tests. These measure preferences, and can indicate how you tend to behave. In them, you are classified along four scales. Once you know your type, you can find many references to your type, and see how it fits into society. There are many websites on the Internet devoted to these topics.

Use what you have learned to determine one trait you want to change. Concentrate for a week on that negative trait, catching yourself, and trying to modify your behavior. Work on only one trait at a time, or you may be overwhelmed. But if you cultivate your awareness, you might find the problem may cure itself. Many of our negative traits are just patterns of habit. Becoming aware of them is half the battle.

It may be helpful to set aside fifteen to twenty minutes each day, right before bedtime, to think over your day. Look for things you'd like to change, how you might have handled yourself differently. In time, you will become more active in dealing with your personality and its quirks.

Dream interpretation is an excellent path for self-improvement. Write down your dreams in a journal. Many will deal with how you handled yourself, and possibly what you might have done better. Your higher mind is always watching and judging you and your actions. You will know if you did something that would not be in your best interests for soul development.

If you have a dream with uncomfortable emotional overtones, it might be a warning about something you did, and a caution not to repeat the performance. A dream in which you are deformed or crippled may be a strong commentary on your actions. What you did crippled you in some way, or kept you from your highest potential. Your higher mind can be starkly honest. Listen to it through your dreams.

Dialoguing with yourself can help work through difficulties. If you are uncertain about how to conduct yourself in a situation, talk it out beforehand. Do it in your bedroom, or while you are driving. Nobody else need hear, but just actually saying the words, rehearsing yourself through all the possible scenarios, will help.

You can use divination too as a tool for self-exploration. Ask a question several ways. In each answer you can find insight into the possible consequences of your actions. Meditation is another path toward self-understanding. Calming the mind and allowing your thoughts to flow freely can relieve stress. Ask for insight and understanding of yourself.

Any or all of these techniques can be helpful for getting to know yourself better. It may take time, but if you work at it a bit each day the awareness will come. Being fully self-aware and conscious about yourself and the world around you is what makes for a successful magician. Good luck!

The balance of the year swings toward warmth starting now. On this perfect balance of light and darkness, it is time for final decisions about plan for the year. Along with the practical, give yourself spiritual balance, too. An hour before sunset, bathe in salt water scented with two or three drops of eucalyptus essential oil. As you do this, picture the troubles of winter sliding off your body and disappearing down the drain. After your bath, dry yourself and dress in weather appropriate clothing. Go outside and watch the sunset. As the Sun sets, chant:

The winter wanes and the sun expands
Minute by minute across the land....
Now the ray, it touches me
And carries me into sweet divinity.

The next day take the first steps toward your new projects for the year, creating written plans and contacting the people who can help you accomplish your goals.

In aromatherapy Patchouli is often used as a relaxant. The warmth
and depth of its aroma make it comforting and relaxing.
An aromatherapy blend inspired by the traditional Chinese use can
evoke a feeling of gentle clarity and inspire the harmonious flow of
emotional energy. This blend uses oils with balancing and mildly
energizing aromas.

28 drops Patchouli

28 drops Lavender

29 drops Bergamot

10 drops Clary sage

5 drops Rosemary

Add three drops of this blend to one ounce vegetable oil and use as a
massage oil.
