This was indeed very interesting, I thought. And I am SO glad that the dogs
are finally getting the care and respect they deserve for such dangerous
duties!

If there is joint burning/pain associated with the edema, you should be tested for rheumatoid arthritis. Throwing a treatment at a symptom without knowing the cause of the symptom could make things radically worse.

Original message in bold.
For joint swelling, I DO NOT recommend teas. The amount of herb needed to ease the swelling often approaches toxic and if that swelling is due to water retention or some other problem, it can often compound the issue.
If you're experiencing edema around the joints, I would recommend a few practical alterations in your lifestyle:
- reduce your salt intake...
- Increase your joint movement...
- Elevate the affected limbs...
- Try either ice or heat on the joints....
Thank you. :) I have gone to the Dr and I do have a water pill I take for it, I was just wondering what supplements might be an alternative which might help without the nasty side effect of having to go to the restroom every few mins. Which as I'm sure you know can be quite difficult if you have joint swelling and pain.
If you haven't already, get checked out by your doctor....
There's no shame in using prescribed medications if that's what it takes to reduce the swelling and the pain. I started with OTC and alternative treatments, but ended up using the prescriptions anyhow.
You may not know, but are joint problems ever associated with PCOS? This whole health issue has been a nightmare. Doctor after doctor keep telling me it's all in my head and directly related to my daddy issues (no lie) and keep putting me on different anti-depressants, which was only making my symptoms worse. Finally I had a doctor give me a diagnosis of PCOS and take me off all the anti-depressants.
There came a point when the others just stopped being effective and I was contemplating ending my life because the pain and swelling were so bad. I now take Celebrex, Lyrica, and Vicodin in a carefully managed combination to ensure that I'm comfortable and as pain free as possible while still remaining active (ignore the wheelchair --- it actually gave me back a lot of mobility I didn't have otherwise, not to mention motivation to do things!)
I'm glad to hear things are doing better! I've been away for a while and I remember things weren't going great when I dropped off the face of the planet. :)
Some supplements you can consider:
glucosamine - this is a proven joint helper; eases pain and swelling. Comes in tablets or in a little toffee-like chew if you're not the pill type. The pill can also be found in capsules which can be broken into a health drink, your morning orange juice, or a dish of applesauce.
green tea - another mild natural analgesic with joint easing properties. I prefer to drink mine, but you can get a standardized extract at most stores in the pharmacy section
See if you can find a bath scent you like for a shower or bath gel which has mint, eucalyptus, and/or citrus in it. The combination helps ease aches and pains, even if you just bathe in it in the shower instead of soaking.
Also, consider wrapping the affected knees with an Ace wrap and investing in a good pair of high topped shoes. These will lend added support and help ease pain. In my case, they also compress swelling and help return the edema-infused tissues to their normal state.
Thank you for the advice and the list. I still need to go back again to see what they can do, but at the moment I lack the funds so I was looking for some safe alternate methods to help ease it. You're always a great help and I can relay the information is correct.
Blessed be,
Elisabeth.

A Self-Created State
Worry
Worry is an extension of fear and can also set you up for attracting that which you donât want in your life.
We have all had the experience of worrying about something at some point in our lives. Some of us have a habitual tendency to worry, and all of us have known someone who is a chronic worrier. Worry is an extension of fear and can be a very draining experience. In order for worry to exist, we have to imagine that something bad might happen. What we are worrying about has not happened yet, however, so this bad thing is by definition a fantasy. Understood this way, worry is a self-created state of needless fear. Still, most of us worry.
One reason we worry is because we feel like weâre not in control. For example, you might worry about your loved ones driving home in bad weather. There is nothing you can do to guarantee their safe passage, but you worry until you find out they have reached their destination unharmed. In this instance, worry is an attempt to feel useful and in control. However, worrying does nothing to ensure a positive outcome and it has an unpleasant effect on your body, mind, and spirit. The good news is that there are ways to transform this kind of worry so that it has a healing effect. Just as worry uses the imagination, so does the antidote to worry. Next time you find that you are worrying, imagine the best result instead of anticipating the worst outcome. Visualize your loved onesâ path bathed in white light and clearly see in your mindâs eye their safe arrival. Imagine angels or guides watching over them as they make their way home. Generate peace and
well-being instead of nervousn! ess and unease within yourself.
Another reason we worry is that something that we know is pending but are avoiding is nagging usâ"an unpaid parking ticket, an upcoming test, an issue with a friend. In these cases, acknowledging that we are worried and taking action is the best solution. If you can confront the situation and own your power to change it, youâll have no reason to worry.
Love, Light and Abundant Blessings,
LadyHawk

Cosmic Calendar July 8

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Friday, July 8
Unfortunately, it does feel that July 2011 is akin to an obstacle course due to the unusually, long void lunar cycles happening approximately every two days. This is actually not that rare, but it does cause some strange gyrations in what we need to do and how we need to do it.
Generally speaking, it is wise to finish old business during any void lunar twilight zone and leave the inauguration of new projects for when the Moon enters the next zodiacal sign. Right now the Moon is traveling through the last third of the sign of Libra (void until 11:32PM PDT), and yet it is still a good idea to nurture partners to the best of your ability.
Assisting you in lending a helping hand is a revelatory Venus-Chiron flowing trine in water signs (12:46AM PDT). Soul-mates and lovers can experience wonderful communions under the aegis of this comforting aspect. Find renewed productivity in arts, crafts and hobbies - courtesy of a Moon-Ceres parallel (2:41AM PDT). The dream-weaver captivates you with visions from the Great Beyond as the Moon parallels Neptune (4:42AM PDT).
As often happens on any day while traveling aboard the Earth, the universe likes to play the role of mischief-maker by tossing you curve balls in the form of challenging alignments. Therefore, be prepared for thrills and chills on the relationship front since Mercury forms a contra-parallel to Pluto (6:57AM PDT) while Venus makes its annual opposition to this same Lord of the Underworld (5:32PM PDT). Don't punish yourself for failures to communicate your deepest feelings and most sublime thoughts to the object of your affection or an important friend. Keep striving to be more compassionate and empathic. Assisting you in being more buoyant and enthusiastic is a 60-degree alliance between Venus and Jupiter (11:07PM PDT).
Just when you think the day will never end, the Moon finally reaches the borderline between airy Libra and watery Scorpio, and then plunges into the fierce currents of the eighth sign of the zodiac like a ritualistic baptism (11:32PM PDT). You will need all your wits to get through Saturday relatively unscathed as Uranus stops in motion while Mercury, Mars, Pallas and Saturn keep pushing your proverbial physical, emotional and mental buttons.

do love Dandelion root, sadly where I live there isn't much around. I live next to a gravel pit. It's so rocky not even the weeds will grow in my yard, if you can call it that.
Have you gone to the pit and done any looking for agates, crystals, arrow heads and so on. I would so love to be close to a pit. I do have lots of dandelions every spring.
Pat aka Lionaire
The problem isn't getting old,
It's getting ourselves to accept it.

Jolene,
I've lit a candle for you. FWIW, we discovered my son's allergy to tapes and bandages through this. What started with a pimple and a tiny round bandage to keep my four-year old from picking at it (per Doctor's orders), turned into a sore involving his ENTIRE FACE until we got to the point where he was wrapped like a mummy (no tape touching the skin). After some experimenting, it went away. Just a thought. You might see if you've developed some sensitivity by testing the inside of your wrist.
Healing thoughts. I'll keep the candle lit. Let us know when you're recovering please.
