What's Happening Today:

Goddess Nemesis, defender of the relics & memory of the dead from insults)

Kirvis (Harvest Festival; Lithuania)

Vertumnalia (Old Roman God of the Change of Seasons)

Greece: Feast of the Furies. This day was also sacred to
Nemesis, god of righteous anger and vengeance; and to the
Moerae, the Fates: Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. This was the
day to honor the ancient Erinyes: Tisiphone, Megaera, and
Alecto; the Underworld goddesses who were born of the blood of
Uranus's castration. They brought condemned souls to Tartarus
for their punishment. They had the divine charge to relentlessly
hunt down and destroy those who shed kindred blood, especially
children who kill their parents. These were the goddesses who
punished murderers, abusers, and exploiters of others by
pursuing them ceaselessly until they were driven to madness and
suicide, or cleansed with special rituals performed by a priest.
Uncleansed, even after death, a criminal would have no rest
until he had atoned for his crime. You can imagine that a feast
to appease these ancient and terrible goddesses would be a very
important one to the Greeks, and later, to the Romans.  Also:
the Greater Eleusinia, games celebrated in Eleusis, not
associated with the Mysteries, but including a religious
procession and sacrifices. The games took place over 4 days on
the 4th year of every Olympiad and, on a lesser scale, every 2nd
year of the Olympiad. The winner's prize was a quantity of
grain.

Rome: Volcanalia, the great festival sacred to Volcanus
(Vulcan), the fire god. For two days there was feasting, and at
night, at temples built outside the city (the Romans learned the
hard way when fires from festivities spred), great bonfires were
lit. Into the fire the Romans would throw offerings of fishes
caught from the Tiber. Volcanus exhibited his tremendous and
terrifying powers through the eruptions of volcanoes,
earthquakes, and fiery lightning. In 79 AD, at 1 PM in the
afternoon during the Volcanalia festival, Mt Vesuvius erupted.
This was no coincidence to the Romans.

Today's Goddess:   Juturna Vulcanalia (Rome)

Today's Goddess:  Juturna
Vulcanalia (Rome)

Themes ~  Fire; Water; Fate; Divination; Protection; Balance
Symbols ~  Fire; Water; Fountains

About Juturna ~  During the festival of Vulcan (the God of fire and the forge),
Romans wisely invoked Juturna, a fountain Goddess, to keep fire from damaging
the land or homes.  On another level, we can call upon her to put out emotional fires
that have gotten out of control.

To Do Today ~  Historically, Vulcanalia was a time to divine using the smoke
from incense (then put out the fire with Juturna's water).  Choose your incense
so it matches your question:  rose or jasmine for love, mint for money-related
matters, vanilla for health.  The smoke may respond by creating a symbolic image
or by moving in a particular direction.  Movement toward your left is negative, to the
right is positive, and smoke circling the incense stick reflects mingled fortunes or
uncertain fates.  When you're done scrying the smoke and have put the incense out,
keep the mixture of ash and water.  This symbolizes the balance between fire and water.
Carry this with you in a sealed container, breaking it open amid aggravating situations.
Releasing the contents invites Juturna's coolheadedness to keep anger reigned in.

To internalize Juturna's protective, balancing energies, simply stop at any water fountain
today for a refreshing drink of her water.  Whisper her name just before the water meets
your lips to invoke her presence.

Mint to Cool Spell

Sat Jul 23, 2011 7:40 am (PDT)

Mint to Cool Spell
Incense of the day: Clove

Is it hot where you are today? If you live in the Northern
Hemisphere, it probably is. Here is a recipe to help you cool off. Brew a cup of mint tea, and allow it to cool. Mix the tea with an equal amount of cool water in a shallow bowl. Do not add ice, and do not refrigerate the tea. Undress, and soak a clean washcloth in the diluted mint tea.
Go to your tub or shower, and rub the washcloth up and down your body.
Repeat until the mixture is used up. Then bathe or shower in cool water
to wash off the mixture. Brew another cup of mint tea, chill it, and
enjoy.

Lakota Song For Womanhood Ritual

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

They are coming to see this!
I am making this place sacred.
They are coming to see this!
White Buffalo Calf Woman will come.
They are coming to see this!
She will sit in a sacred manner.
They are coming to see this!
They are all coming to see this!
~Lakota Song For Womanhood Ritual

The making of a woman is not an automatic event in many cultures. An initiation ceremony of some sort is frequently demanded, one which recognizes the difference in roles and rights of a young woman who is no longer a girl. Such ceremonies typically emphasize the sacred power of a woman's body, the power to create new life which has been held irreverence, even in awe, for countless generations.

In this overcrowded world, we no longer greet the arrival of womanhood with the same reverence. Rather, we worry that another woman will mean more children, which will further strain the world's resources. Yet to take such a view is to forget men, too, are responsible for the conception, if not the birth, of children. Whenever women are offered sufficient education and freedom to make choices, overpopulation ceases to be a problem. The gift of creating new life needs to be,  once again, welcomed and honored as one of the most mysterious of human powers. And women need to be confirmed in their decisions to use this power however and whenever they see fit.

Reader bios:

Annette

Annette is a renowned international psychic and a Wiccan high priestess. She has been psychic all her life, but has only been "reading" professionally since May 1964. This was after a near death experience on the operating table. During those few secondsher heart stopped and her soul left her body. Since this near death experience she has been able to successfully communicate with the beyond.

She "inherited" her psychic ability since her grandmother and great grandmother were both psychics and were both knowledgeable in "Magick".

She has successfully solved two murders and found a kidnapped child.

Besides her psychic and metaphysical abilities, Annette is an ordained minister with the Church of Eternal Life. And as such, is a Reiki master trained to heal and teach the art of hands on healing known as Reiki.

She attended several seminars with world renowned psychics, Uri Geller and James Van Praagh.

Bridget

Reiki, Light Therapy, Rain Drop therapy, and crystal healing can all be utilized to help the body heal itself. Reiki and Light therapy channel healing energy to the body through the practitioner. Crystal work balances the chakras to help the body to heal and essential oils (Rain Drop Therapy) improves body function and detoxifies to allow self healing. By using the pendulum to determine what is needed for each person this can be a wonderful and enlightening experience.

Chris

I learned palm reading from my grandmother from a very young age. Though I am still young, I have a good amount of experience in this art. Palm reading is a very efficient tool in discovering more about yourself and what to focus on in the upcoming future. If one would like to reveal their inner ambitions and be prepared for future troubles, palm reading is perfect for just that.

Dana

Dana is an intuitive reader who uses the tools of Tarot, Astrology and Numerology in order to give the best readings possible in hopes of improving the life-area in question of the client. She has been a student of Astrology (western and eastern) for twenty years and has been doing Tarot, Numerology and Astrology readings for seven years. Her insatiable desire for knowledge and her quest for inner truth have lead her to believe that magic or miracles stem from deep within one's soul. All one needs in order to make dreams come true are pure desire and the certainty (faith) that it will come to manifest in one's life at the right moment in time.

Deborah

Deborah was trained and initiated in the Wiccan tradition with teachings in the arts of high magic more than 7 years ago. Taught by an old Gypsy woman to read cards in her young adult years, Deborah learned to read regular playing cards. Deborah has been reading regularly for friends for more than 20 years. Following the signs that the universe has sent her, she is setting forth on a path to read professionally for clients both privately and for parties and psychic fairs.

Janice

Janice is an intuitive counselor and a Wiccan Priestess. Long enamored of the Ancient Norse, and an avid student of their customs and life ways, she prefers the innately minimalistic spirituality of Runes, with which these northern peoples have long been associated, through which best to sensitively channel guidance. Janice holds an MA in anthropology, with a concentration in molecular studies, and also a U.S. Patent for a nondestructive method through which ancient DNA can be recovered from teeth.

Judy

Judy is a Practical Magick II first degree initiated Wiccan eligible for second degree in 2011. She has been reading Tarot Cards for 25 years, but still hones her skills by frequently studying tarot instructive and educational books. She continues to study so that she can help others with their spiritual needs and guide them on the right path. Judy has studied mediumship with Steve & Stella Upton, ministers and officiates of the Spiritualists' National Union, and Joann Gerber, an internationally known psychic medium and spiritual teacher. Judy is also a qualified spiritual healer.

Pauline

I am a clairvoyant/clairsentient/clairolfaction psychic. In other words, I use my sense of vision (seeing, dreams), feeling and olfaction as a tool for my intuitive knowing. I started having visions at a very young age. During that time I was afraid of what I saw and knew, so I tried to shut it down for fear of being misunderstood. Not everyone was like me, so I hid it. But as time went by, I realized that whatever gift had been given to me was not going away. Actually, it was getting stronger and now I was beginning to see and feel people who had passed away! Immediately, I knew that my gift was a blessing and I didn't need to be afraid of it. I accepted it, and even though I didn't (back then) announce it to the world, I know now that I must deliver information to you, the client.

I stumbled upon the Tarot cards not too long ago and found my haven. I have been helping others through Tarot for two years. However, throughout my life I have been "reading" and helping others without realizing what I was doing. I've had dreams of loved ones and have been able to guide them by helping them interpret their dreams. I usually begin to get impressions of people as soon as I meet them.

I hope to be able to help you with whatever you may be going through in your life.
