Cosmic Calendar

Sun Jul 10, 2011 11:32 am (PDT)

Sunday, July 10

This is a good point in the Cosmic Calendar to recall that solar and planetary alignments don't disappear in just one day. There is a so-called shelf-life to every aspect, and therefore many of yesterday's celestial connections are still rippling through the ethers and affecting everyone in the human kingdom. Certainly, the Uranus station from Saturday is still packing a punch - wherein shocks and consciousness breakthroughs are much more common place and it is supremely wise to expect the unexpected no matter where you are going today.

It would be fantastic if we didn't have to experience another, long void lunar cycle, but during this morning's uplifting Sun-Moon trine in water signs (6:06AM PDT), a void-of-course Moon in Scorpio energy-field develops that lasts until 2:48AM PDT tomorrow morning when the Moon enters fiery, upbeat Sagittarius. While completing old projects is definitely sensible during a void lunar time-period, the universal pressure-cooker is also turned off. Therefore, going with the flow and relaxing more is okay.

In addition, a potentially troublesome, 150-degree link from the Sun to Vesta (11:59AM PDT) - usually a challenging aspect concerning investments and business matters - may actually contain less severity and discord because it is occurring when the Moon is void. Nevertheless, you should do everything carefully to protect your assets and valuables with the Sun and Vesta provoking one another.

The day's best celestial connection happens when the Sun in Cancer and Jupiter in Taurus form an inspirational, 72-degree rapport (7:23PM PDT). The Sun and Jupiter are the largest bodies in our solar system, and their favorable linkage spurs you onward in savoring culinary delights, exploring favorite hobbies as well as pursuing spiritual studies across the board.

Love, Light and Abundant Blessings,
LadyHawk

Signs of Positive and Negative Energy

Signs of Positive and Negative Energy

Certain people give off positive energy, others negative. It's the quality of someone's being, a measure of love with which they've led their lives. It also reflects the inner work they've done, their efforts to heal anger, hatred, or self-loathing, which poison us like toxic fumes. Energetically these linger, precluding joy from shining through. It's important to grasp, however, that once you undertake the process of healing, it changes the quality of even the negativity that remains. Don't be too hard on yourself-we' re all works in progress.

Signs of Positive Energy in People
+ They exude an inviting sense of heart, compassion, and support.
+ You intuitively feel safe, relaxed, wanting to get closer.
+ They emanate a peaceful glow.
+ You feel better around them. Your energy and optimism increase.
Signs of Negative Energy in People
+ You experience a sense of being demeaned, constricted, or attacked
+ You intuitively feel unsafe, tense, or on guard.
+ You sense prickly, off-putting vibes. You can't wait to get away from them.
+ Your energy starts to fizzle. You may feel beleaguered or ill.

I'm a big fan of being proactive in generating positive energy. The First Prescription' s formula for success: Do whatever makes your inner light burn brighter. In other words, try to treat yourself and everyone else with love. It's a constant process of tuning in: finding people who support your spirit, trusting your gut-centered decisions to guide you. Then you won't end up in a relationship that looks right but feels wrong. Or miss the chance to meet a loving man or woman because he or she doesn't fit some preconception. When you're with trying people, aim for the high road; find common ground, rather than inflame negativity. The care with which you approach life is intuitively evident in your energy field. We can feel each other's love: that's the great attraction. Spread openheartedness around.

Basic Herbs for a Witch's Pantry

Posted by: "LadyHawk_Jax" ladyhawk_jax@yahoo.com   ladyhawk_jax

Sun Jul 10, 2011 2:47 pm (PDT)

Basic Herbs for a Witch's Pantry

CATNIP -- Catnip is ruled by the planet Venus, and is therefore useful in love, beauty, and happiness spells. One of my favorite uses for catnip is "cat magick". If you feed your cat some catnip, it will build a psychic bond between you and your cat! You can also make a pink sachet and fill it with Catnip to wear or carry to draw love to you. Another fun use for catnip is to grow some in your home. Aside from pleasing your cat, this will draw positive vibrations and good luck to you and to your house.

CEDAR CHIPS -- Useful in healing, purification, protection, and money-drawing spells. Burn cedar chips on a charcoal disc to purify an area...burning cedar chips is also useful for inducing and Strengthening psychic powers. You can keep a little green sachet filled with cedar chips in your purse or wallet to draw money.

CHAMOMILE -- I drink Chamomile tea whenever I need to make sure I get a good night's sleep, and it never fails to work for me! Chamomile is useful in spells for luck and gambling as well. Make a green amulet and fill with Chamomile Flowers to carry as a good-luck amulet.

CINNAMON -- Cinnamon is a wonderful herb to either burn as an incense Or make into a sachet. Fill a green or gold sachet with Cinnamon to draw money and success or to use as a healing charm. A purple sachet can be used to increase your magickal and/or psychic powers. A pink or red sachet of Cinnamon can be worn, carried with you, or placed under
your bed to draw love or to promote lust. Use a white sachet filled with Cinnamon to increase your spirituality and to confer protection.

CLOVES -- Their magickal properties include banishing evil (exorcism), clearing your head, protection, love, and money. Burn cloves as an incense to draw wealth and prosperity, drive away hostile and negative forces, produce positive spiritual vibrations, and purify the area in which they are burned. Wear or carry cloves to draw members
of the opposite sex to you. Using cloves in your magickal spells is said to ensure that your magickal intention is realized.

EUCALYPTUS -- It is the best herb I know of for healing, and can be Used for protection as well. Carry some of the leaves with you for protection. To relieve a cold or other respiratory infection, ring green candles with the leaves and pods and visualize yourself as healed. Allow the candles to burn down completely.

FRANKINCENSE TEARS -- Magickal properties similar to Myrrh (below). Use these cute little beads to drive out negativity and enhance positive vibrations. You can crush them and use them as an incense on a Charcoal disc. Frankincense incense induces visions and is useful as an aid to meditation. You can also make a little white or purple sachet of Frankincense and carry it with you to aid in your spiritual growth. A sachet of Frankincense Tears can also be used as a protective amulet.

LAVENDAR FLOWERS -- Wonderful for use in love spells. Lavendar has long beenknown to be a particularly attractive scent to men...Lavendar Flowers can be sprinkled around the house to bring peacefulness, and can also be burned as an incense to help you sleep. Lavendar has also been used for protection, chastity, longevity, purification, and happiness.

MUGWORT -- Mugwort can be used as an incense (mixed in equal parts With Sandalwood) to aid in strengthening Psychic Powers. Try using it while scrying or before divination!!! Mugwort can also be placed next to the bed to aid in achieving astral projection. Its other magickal
uses include strength, protection, prophetic dreams, and healing...

MYRRH -- Myrrh is a wonderful herb to use in spells for spirituality. Its other magickal uses include protection, healing, and exorcism. It is often combined with Frankincense to increase its power. Burn as an incense to purify an area. Use the smoke from the incense to purify
and bless charms, amulets, talismans, magickal jewelry, tools, etc.

PEPPERMINT -- Peppermint makes a wonderful tea to increase your Psychic ability (drink some before reading the Tarot, consulting runes, Scrying, dowsing, etc.). Drinking Peppermint tea is also useful for healing (especially stomach aches), producing visions, and helping with
sleep. The herb can also be sprinkled around your home for
purification.

ROSE BUDS / PETALS -- These are wonderful for use in spells to draw love...use red for passionate love, pink or white for romantic, or True love. You can also place a single rose in a vase on your altar as a powerful love-drawing aid. To make a love candle melt several pink household size (6") candles over low heat. When they are completely
melted, remove from heat, add several pink or red rose buds (ground) and 20 to 30 drops of Rose Oil. Pour into a prepared glass jar (with wick and metal tab attached). Allow the candle to cool and harden, and burn on the first Friday after the New Moon to draw love to you. Rose buds or petals can also be used for psychic powers (especially when used for a tea), healing, protection, and luck...

ROSEMARY -- This is a wonderful all-purpose herb that you can't afford to be without! Rosemary can be used as a substitute for just about any herb. Its powers include love, lust, protection, exorcism, purification, healing, longevity, youth, mental powers, and sleep...Rosemary is a wonderful incense...smoulder a bit of it to emit powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations and to rid negativity in the area in which it is burned (especially helpful to
burn before performing any magick!) Place a bit of rosemary under your pillow to ensure a good night's sleep. Wear rosemary to aid your memory (especially helpful when you are studying for an exam). Add an infusion of rosemary to your bathwater to perserve youthfulness and to purify you. Carry a bit of rosemary with you to remain healthy. Hang
a sprig of rosemary above your door posts.

SAGE -- Sage is useful for protection, healing, wealth, fulfilling wishes, and spells to increase longevity. One of my favorite uses for Sage is to powder some and add to my homemade yellow candles. These I burn on a Wednesday during the Waxing Moon to increase knowledge and wisdom.

SANDALWOOD -- Sandalwood has many magickal uses, including protection, spirituality, exorcism, healing, and wish fulfillment. Scatter sandalwood powder around your home to clear it of negativity. Use in healing and exorcism spells. Write a wish on a sandalwood chip and burn in your cauldron. As it burns it sets your magick flowing. Sandalwood mixed with Lavendar makes a wonderful incense which is intended to conjure spirits.

VIOLET FLOWERS -- These are wonderful for using in amulets for good luck and fortune. They also work well in spells for lust and passion - they are powerful love stimulants and also arouse lust...try mixing them with Lavendar Flowers for a potent combination. They are also useful in spells for protection, wishes, peace, and healing...

YARROW -- A wonderful herb to use in love spells!!! Also works to draw courage and to purify (exorcism). Drink as a tea to increase your psychic powers. Wear a sprig of yarrow for protection. Hold some in your hands when you are afraid. This will stop all fear and give you courage. Carry some with you to draw love and to attract friends.

Some definitions of Herbal preparations

Posted by: "LadyHawk_Jax" ladyhawk_jax@yahoo.com   ladyhawk_jax

Sun Jul 10, 2011 2:49 pm (PDT)

Definitions & Making Herbal Preparations

Compress
Soak a soft cloth in a hot infusion, decoction, or 5-20 ml tincture in 500 ml hot water. Squeeze out excess water and hold pad against affected area.
Cream
A mixture of fats and water that blends with the skin to strengthen and smooth it. Use 30 g lanolin, 15 oz beeswax, 100 g. vegetable or fruit oil, and 30 ml herb water. Melt the lanolin and beeswax in a double boiler, gently stirring in the oil. Remove from heat and whisk in the herb water. Keep stirring as it cools. Store in wide mouth jars.
Decoction
Made by simmering larger pieces of the herb, such as bark, roots, or twigs. Use 30 g. dried or 60 g. fresh herb to 750 ml water; simmer until the water is reduced to 500 ml. Drink 1/2 cup three times a day.
Infused oils
--Hot infusion: 250 g. dried or 500 g. fresh herb to 750 ml Olive or Vegetable Oil. Heat gently in a double boiler for 3 hours. Strain through cheesecloth into dark bottles.
--Cold infusion: Pack a large jar with the herb. Cover it with cold-pressed oil and put the lid on. Let stand in a sunny window sill for 2-3 weeks. Squeeze the oil through a jelly bag and repeat the process. Store in dark glass bottles.
Infusion
A tea made by pouring boiled (not actively boiling) water over fresh or dried herbs. Use approximately 30 g. dried or 75 g. fresh herbs to 500 ml water. Drink 1/2 cup three times a day.
Macerate
To make, pour 500ml of cold water over 25g of herb and leave to stand overnight. Then strain and use as you would a decoction.
Massage Oils
Use 5 drops essential oil to 20 ml carrier oil. Sweet almond, jojoba, avocado or grapeseed make good carrier oils. You can also used infused oils.
Ointment
A mixture of oils and fats that forms a protective layer over the skin. Melt 500 g. petroleum jelly or soft paraffin wax in a double boiler. Add 60 g. dried herb and simmer gently for 2 hours. Strain through a jelly bag and pour into jars while still hot.
Plaster
Wrap the chopped or boiled herbs, or a paste made from them, in cheesecloth or muslin before applying to the affected area. This is good for herbs that might irritate the skin, such as mustard.
Poultice
Boil herbs in a little water for a hot poultice, or bruise or chop slightly for a cold one. Smooth a little oil on the skin to keep the herbs from sticking, apply the herb, and wrap with muslin or gauze strips.
Steam Inhalants
Place a few tablespoons of the dried herb in a bowl and pour boiling water over them. Drape a towel over your head and breathe in the steam.
Syrup
An infusion or decoction preserved by adding sugar or honey. Use 500 ml infusion to 500 g sugar or honey; heat gently until the sweetener has dissolved. Store in dark glass bottles with cork tops; screw top bottles may explode if the mixture ferments.
Tincture
Steep the fresh or dried herb in a 25% mixture of alcohol and water. Do not use methyl, grain, or rubbing alcohol as they are toxic. Vodka is ideal; rum has the added benefit of covering unpleasant flavors. Use 200 g. dried or 600 g. fresh herb to 1 liter alcohol and water. Place in a sealed jar in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks, shaking occasionally. Strain the liquid through cheesecloth and store in a dark glass bottle. Take 5 ml three times a day, diluted in a little fruit juice or water.
Tonic Wine
Pour 2 liters good quality wine, preferably red, over 500 g. dried herb, making sure all the herb is covered by the wine. Cover and leave for 2 weeks. Strain and take in 1/3 cup doses.
Wash
A tea or infusion meant only for external use. A mild form of a wash would be 1/4 ounce of herb to one pint of boiling water, steeped until lukewarm, then applied.

The Ritual of Candle-Lighting

Posted by: "LadyHawk_Jax" ladyhawk_jax@yahoo.com   ladyhawk_jax

Mon Jul 11, 2011 3:43 am (PDT)

   THE RITUAL OF CANDLE-LIGHTING

Light a different color candle each day, and bring more good into your life. This is a powerful medium that you can use in the creative process of lighting your thinking—which means lighting your life. This ancient practice results in total self-empowerment. In our increasingly mechanistic world, a more spiritual and personal approach is needed by us all. Candle-lighting helps you fashion a personal approach with beauty, warmth, and radiance.

Ancient and modern wisdom teaches that what you think about happens: energy always follow thought. The wise now, as then, use this most simple of tools, the candle, to visualize and manifest—via affirmation, meditation, or prayer—new conditions into their lives or to snuff out the old and unwanted thinking patterns and their undesirable consequences.

As you light the appropriately colored candle for a certain goal or purpose, you begin the journey of lighting, and therefore experiencing, your life as you desire it to be. You can think or speak aloud your Meditation via the candle flame or write your wish on a piece of paper placed beneath the candle.

Remember that a burning candle should never be unattended, especially in the presence of children or pets.

Light a Green Candle for Money ~ Employment ~ Plants & Gardens ~ Calming ~ Healing ~ Revitalizing

Meditation: I am employed, and am always employed, by that Self of me that is greater than I am. I do not come into or fall out of its service; I am always there.
It expresses as me and serves up continuously perfect opportunities, stimulating responsibilities, delightful conditions, and generous compensation. I am happy,
taking charge, taken care of, and fulfilled. So it is!
