G'day Bill,
Good thoughts, I do not think that the majority in society have made up
their minds what they expect the role of prisons to be. There is a
significant section of society which sees the role of a prison as
punishment/revenge. There is a much smaller section of society which
sees prison as having a primary rehabilitative function. The third
section sees prison as removing the person from the society that they
are apparently incompatible with. The 4th and largest section is a
confused mob who are not sure what they expect prisons to be - probably
a little bit of everything.
Because of this, the prison system is managed in a confused and chaotic
manner. The results and outcomes are less than is desirable and
recidivism is high. The end result of prison is that there are a lot of
angry, violated, poorly equipped people who are inevitably released into
a society which is not equipped to deal with them or willing to allow
them to "start again". It is no surprise that prison is considered to
be a "university" which breeds a disaffected underclass.

Hello Guys,
It is a well known fact that he has not been rehabilitated and he has openly, the whole time that he has been in goal/supervision claimed that he has done nothing wrong. It is widely alnowledged by the authorities and all of the staff that have dealt with him that if he is re-introduced to society he will reoffend.
It was reported that he was caught grooming children in Africa 5 or so years ago via the internet.
I am sure he would not get as much press as he does or as often as he does if he had not in his original trial claimed that what he did was a part of his religious practice as a Witch.
Where do you draw the line with this, if he is released I can guarentee he will be watched like a hawk and then we are ar rick of getting in trouble for doing that. But can anyone accept the risk of what he did happening again.
David

No Gary I am simply asking that he should be simply heavily supervised
is all. Unfortunately if you read the statistics there far and few
between with pedophiles that they are ever *really* have been
rehabilitated
as they always seem to commit the same
obnoxious crime agian when released..
All I am sying is that he should be under strict supervision is all..
again this only my meek opinion is all..

What you are asking for is tantamount to the death penalty.
If you believe that this person ought never be released, then he may as well
have been shot upon conviction.
The purpose of jail ought not be revenge, or the extraction of pain - but
removal from society until such time as the person can be rehabilitated and
re-introduced to society. If you don't believe that is possible, then the
prisoner should be executed to save his anguish and our $$.
It is enlightening to read on the Foreign Policy magazine website that
Americns are calling for the Norway gunman to be nailed to a wall upside
down, whereas the Norwegians are saying 'sorry, nothing would make us stoop
to that level, it is enough that he has been captured. In 21 years we will
assess the situation again'

Hi lakotalady56,
There is no such thing as a 'wiccan bible' although there is a book called the Witches Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar. Basically a comprehensive edition of a few of their select works.
My advice is if you want find out about Wicca read 'Wicca: Old religion for a new age' by Vivianne Crowley (ISBN: 978-0722532713) and if you are still interested in what is commonly referred to online as British Tradition Wicca join the group Amber and Jet, get yourself on a seekers list and read as much as you can.
BB,
Lughna.
