With all due respect to you Silver Fox, I know you get tis info from other sources, so just to add....

The opening part mentioning Nostradamus: In his notes and books, prior to his predictions AKA Quatrains, he actually explains his method of scrying, which was merely gazing into a silver bowl of "glacial waters" at night by candlelight. He actually had the ability to "know" things without this form of water gazing as a child and young man (predicting the rise of a pope when he was still a monk, warning a woodcutter to be careful prior to him accidentally cutting off his leg, predicting a water fountain and well that it would dry up...ect) so I wonder why he moved to such a form of gazing. He did not take up watergazing and true divining till he lost his wife and son to the black plague. There are claims by his other son and a friend that Nostradamus became obsessed with his scrying, going for days without sleep and food. Which I have often wondered if helped him  in his scrying or distorted his visions of the future.

(Incidentally, posted above is info that was known prior to the whole "Nostradamus effect" syndrome thats been going on for the last 12 years. Since 9/11 there have been ALOT of books produced of his quatrains and predictions. And unfortunantly they have been mis-interpretted and quatrains have been reworded to get get a wider audience to buy these new books and buy into the TV shows.)

Anyway, I am not going to get this into a huge debate on the man or his quatrains. Just adding some general facts to your post about his methods of gazing

Pagan books for 8 years old girl - Any thoughts?

Hi. Does anyone know of any really good pagan books for children?

My daughter is 8 years old. I feel stuck in no-man's land. Most books are way above her (in content and/or level of English) or way below her.

She is bilingual (English and Japanese). Her reading is better in English, but her speaking is better in Japanese.

She has now started to read books without any pictures and, so long as it's well written, she reads them from cover to cover avidly. She loves scary books about ghouls and ghosts (but at her age, the 'scary' books are not very scary of course.)

Thank you for any thoughts! I've been struggling with this for the last couple of years!

Subject: [Earthwise] Very New

Hello All,

I am very new to earth-based religions. I have strugled many years with finding the right path for me. I was raised as a christian and as I got older I found that it was not for me. Right now I am overhauling my life. Right now I am studying as much as I can on wicca/witchcraft that I can. Some of what I am reading is hard to understand but I am working my way through it. If anyone has any suggested books or websites please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Brandi. Greetings.

It's really difficult for me to make book recommendations because the pagan way is *sooo* diverse. Although, in my opinion, there are many common strands that are common to most pagan religions, there is also huge diversity in the detail.

I've only been on this path for 2 or 3 years, but I would recommend that you follow your heart and see what you lean towards. Ask the gods for help, nose around and investigate. In my experience the gods are *very* powerful and *very* wise. You will end up going in the right direction.

:)

"Finding Bigfoot" Revealed as Faked

Posted by: "Jess Quinn" the_sagebrush_kid@yahoo.com   the_sagebrush_kid

Thu Jul 7, 2011 6:13 pm (PDT)

I know some people about America who follow a shamanic path consider Sasquatl/Sasquatch/Bigfoot a spirit being and I thought I would/should post this to anyone who is into the creature, as it is rather concerning.

Three weeks ago a new TV series started on "Animal Planet" called "Finding Bigfoot." It is a show about a supposed bigfoot hunter and his team trying to prove the creature is real. Sadly the show has been proved as hoaxed. I am an internet friend of Loren Coleman who is a specialist in cryptozoology here in the USA. After the first show was produced and released on TV Loren had requested for Matt Moneymaker (the shows lead resercher) a copy of the evidence they gathered on his first televised episode. Loren had discovered the all the sounds that were recorded of the creature were dubbed in by producers and the thermal image of "a creature" walking in the woods was faked.

I batted a few emails back and forth with Loren and he explained that this show, even though it is on Animal Planet, is NOT a documentary. It is a docu-drama. As is also Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventurers and Destination Truth. Sadly these shows are not based on scientific fake or research on any level. It is based in TV ratings. If there is any sort of scientific evidence found on these shows, it is being mistreated. Loren has already revealed some severe fake filming on Ghost Adventurers and Destination Truth and now on this new show. Loren concludes that one should watch shows like these "the same way one watches a soap opera. These shows create intensities to keep people watching."

So what does this all mean? That the true research into the field of Bigfoot/Sasquatl as well as other cryptids has just been severly knocked down several pegs. People that have truely seen creatures like Lake Monsters, Sasquatch, Ghosts and so forth are now going to be treated with even less respect and more ridicule than ever before. The Cryptozoologists who where being taken seriously by the scientific community are now going to be looked at as hoaxers.

Add to this that the fact that Animal Planet is hosting this show as well as lending production money does not help the channel at all. Loren Coleman has already proved that on several shows of Destintion Truth were acually filmed in the California desert and one in Disney's Animal Kingdom Park in Florida. And yet the show claims to go to all these wild exotic places. Right now, I could take a camera with me to the park up the block and make a documentary telling you I am in Germany." Naturally because all you see is me and the trees, you would have to assume that to be true. Now thats just me with a cheap camera. Now picture what a TV production can make you believe. Add to that, what hollywood can do with a computer. Furthermore, when you watch any sort of show, they will have a professor come on to give his opinion. How do we know he is a professor. I can dress my best friend Jim in a lab coat or doctors garb and he just went from Jim to Doctor
Flyn PHD, MD and so on. If this be the case, how can we believe any of these shows on Animal Planet, National Geographic and so on?

Worse off, and more to the point, because of the faking of this TV show Native American Folklore and Religion will be treated with less respect because these North American creatures were a staple to many native pantheons in one form or another. Sasquatl have been witnessed long before Europeans ever landed on this continent. Very few Native American Nations and their people created beasts in their scared stories. Gods and spirits were seen as the the Flora and Fauna we know of today: Bears, Buffalo, Cougar, Deer, Crow, Fox and so on. Why would then would all the native people from Canada to Mexico, from Alaska to Florida decided to add to their list of animals, spirits and gods a creature like sasquatch. Especially when there is not such creature ever seen and properly recored in North American Fauna. The Chumash, Hopi and Anazazi depicted Sasquatl on rock art. Some native nations list it as a animal, some as a people and some as a spirit and
every tribe had their own name for these hair man-like beings. And now, because a group of people plan to fool the world on national/internation broadcasting, the seriousness that we have taken the native people in their ancient ways is going to be looked at with speculative eyes. As if we have not hurt their traditions and faith enough.

Anyway, I am not here to start an argument about hoaxing and chaos effects, This was simply a realization eye opener to this TV show and its effect in general. If you want to watch it, be my guest. But I find that knowing what I now know, its very hard for me to watch shows like this and seriously question Animal Planet's programming department.

Dear Raventalker.

Well said! Thank you for those words.

You have motivated me to get back into my meditation. I love it when I do it. I get really quite deep using the 'small circulation' that Mantak Chia teaches (a form of what he calls 'taoist esoteric yoga'). My breathing becomes very thin and fine and the relaxation is immense. And, as you say, I sometimes get great clarity on my personal situation and issues.

I was made redundant two months ago and have been working 24/7 trying to set up my own businesses. I've had no time to meditate - or I should say that I didn't take the time.

Now I will change.

Thank you.

David

Hi aloysiush

Silver Fox has posted some great things on this. I would just add that in my experience pendulum work can be *incredibly* (chillingly, in fact) accurate.

But it is is a definite art and if you have any questions I really recommend you seek advice, don't just suffer in silence.

I personally found this website really helpful:-
http://www.lettertorobin.org/RBN_html/RBN_10_4_English.html

I'm not sure if it's everyone's cup of tea. It's a very detailed technique. I didn't adopt all of it - I just got the essence of what they were saying and then created my own approach.

Best wishes

David

working with energy & intro

Hello all, I'm Jadaja Talios. I'm a 39 yr old male eclectic solitary Wiccan, more by need than desire. Here in Flint Michigan, most Pagans hide in the broom closet so it's pretty hard to find others. Pretty much all I know about Wicca and Magick in general I learned on my own thru instinct, reading, and practice.

I have a couple of files that I want to upload and will do that when I get my flash drives back. One of the files is a meditation that I call the Elemental Meditation. It's based on the seven element system of the Hindi-linked with the chakras-and inspired by Laurie Cabot's Crystal Meditation.

the other file has to do with what I call extending the aura or aura extension. aura extension helps teach you to control energy in general by you learning to control your aura.

You can also view these files on my blog, meditationsandmagick.blogspot.com. I don't get a chance to do alot with my blog currently because I have to use public computers and don't have the time to work on it. Most of the time I do my emailing thru my cell fon and it doesn't have a qwerty keyboard so my use of caps and punctuation isn't quite proper during those times.

I was wondering how everyone worked with and controlled energy for their Magickal needs. I use energy for healing-healing and protection are my specialties, I use reflexology, accupressure, massage, and some herbalism along with energy. I learned when I was young that I called use energy to heal(not instantly of course or at least not yet if it's possible)and I first learned about massage at camp when I was very young. Healing and protection are my main uses for energy altho I can branch out beyond those.
