Get ready kiddies, early Wednesday morning (or late Tuesday night for you party animals) Treblehawk takes over the airwaves of WMNF's Center Stage show with music and interviews. Set your alarm clocks to get up a little early, listen for an hour then go back to bed and wake up refreshed and know that you won't be one of the ones that missed it the next day at work.
In Tampa here tune in live to 88.5 FM
Or everywhere in the world streamed live at wmnf.org

DailyOM: Working through Silence

DailyOM - Noise as a Distraction
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

Working through Silence
Noise as a Distraction
Distracting yourself with talk-radio and television can become mind-numbing if not taken in moderation.
Our lives are typically filled with noise. There are the noises from the outside world that we cannot control, and there are the noises we allow into our lives. These noises, from seemingly innocuous sources like the television and radio, can actually help us avoid dealing with uncomfortable thoughts and emotions. However, using noise as a distraction hurts more than it helps because you are numbing yourself to what may be internally bubbling up to the surface for you to look at and heal. Distracting yourself with talk-radio, television, or other background noises can also prevent you from finding closure to issues that haunt you.
Noise as a distraction can affect us in many ways. It can help you stay numb to emotions that you don't want to feel, allow you to avoid dealing with problems, distract you from having to think, and make it easier for you to forget reality. Drowning out the thoughts and emotions you find uncomfortable or overwhelming can complicate your issues because it allows them to fester. By tuning out noise and relishing silence, you create the space to experience and express what you are hiding. It is only then that self-exploration can begin in earnest and you can stare down frightening issues. In silence, it becomes easier to let your strongest feelings come forth, deal with them, and find new ways of resolving your problems.
When you go within without the veil of noise to shield you from yourself, you'll be able to figure out what you need to heal. Embracing silence and introspection allows you to work through your thoughts and emotions and transmute them. Free of the need for noise, you can accept your pain, anger, and frustration as they come up and turn them into opportunities to evolve.

Today's Goddess: OShion Good Luck Day (Various Locations)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Mon Jul 11, 2011 8:40 pm (PDT)
Today's Goddess: OShion
Good Luck Day (Various Locations)
Themes: Luck; Health; Home; Travel; Prosperity; Work; Wealth
Symbols: Your Lucky Number, Clothing, Tokens, etc.
About Oshion: Among gypsies, OShion rules over all matters of fortune and fate, including having the good timing it takes to really see a lot of luck! As we go about our summer activities, OShion keeps things interesting by mixing in a little serendipity.
To Do Today: Legend tells us that Gabriel declared this day among the most fortuitous on the calendar, especially for those wanting to travel, find a new home, improve their health, or embark on any prosperous project (like looking for a new job). OShion joins in these efforts by adding even more luck to a day already filled with positive influences. Take out any lucky items and wear or carry them today to augment the energy further.
Add luck-inspiring foods and spices to your diet to help you internalize your good fortune and make it last longer than twenty-four hours. Examples include consuming oranges, pineapples, and strawberries (or juices from these fruits) for breakfast. Or, bake with allspice and nutmeg.
As you dress, add a rose or violet to your outfit; both of these vibrate on lucky levels. Alternatively, carry a piece of turquoise, a piece of jet, or an apache tear in your pocket to transport OShion's good fortune wherever you go today. Leave an extra stone at home to encourage luck there, too!

Spell to Remove Curses

Spell to Remove Curses
.
To most
people, it seems impossible to understand why one soul would want to
curse another, but still, it happens. Although it is best not to get
paranoid about curses, it is smart to stay protected. Here's what you
can do: With silver gel pen on black paper, write the name and birthday, in backwards writing, of the person you believe is cursing you. Light a black candle, and say:
Hecate, mother of night, shield your child from curses.
When enemies direct harm,
make their minds grow confused.
No bad thing can ever be come of this cursing! Mother, shield me.
So mote it be.
Burn the
black paper, and dump the ashes near a graveyard or at a crossroads.
Leave an offering of ginger ale and cornbread. Hecate responds well to
cakes and ale.

Chinese Prayer To Kuan-Yin
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Mon Jul 11, 2011 8:45 pm (PDT)
Her mind is virtue, perfected.
Her body is wisdom, perfected.
Her face is bathed in holy light.
She is compassion itself.
Her orchid heart delights in mercy.
No matter what evils we face,
no matter what beasts or demons,
no matter what ill-fortune or disease,
no matter even if we face death,
Kuan-Yin destroys them all
with her compassionate glance,
with her perfected soul.
She is infintely blessed.
Let us bow to her in prayer.
~Chinese Prayer To Kuan-Yin
In traditional Chinese religion, this was one of the feasts of the bodhisattva Kuan-Yin, whose name means "hearer of cries." Even murmuring her name, it was said, was a powerful prayer, for she had pledged herself to remain on earth - not to be dissolved in cosmic bliss, as her pious lives had earned her the right to be - until every living thing was illuminated.
Women are encouraged by our society to be self-sacrificing, to offer their own happiness for that of others. But in Kuan-Yin, we find the idea of sacrifice raised to a higher plane. For it is not that Kuan-Yin fails to know her own power nor her right to be transformed into a Buddha. No - she chooses, from the greatness of her loving heart, to remain on this side of nirvana, perpetually assisting others toward that goal.
When we aid others out of our own strength, we emulate Kuan-Yin. When we exhaust ourselves for others' expense, or when we fail to acknowledge our own power, we have not met the spiritual challenges of a woman's life.
