Friday Finds An Idea!
Friday July 22, 2011
9:00 am - 10:00 am
(This event repeats every week.)
Notes:
As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..
Namaste'

Get Ready for Lammas!
Day 3: Celebrating the Early Harvest
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
Although Lammas is mostly observed by Wiccans and NeoPagans today, it's important to remember that throughout history, the time of the first grain harvest has always been culturally significant. It was a time of ritual and celebration, of country fairs and fall festivals. Games and gatherings were often held this time of year, as the harvest was brought in, bread was baked, and livestock were herded in from the summer pastures. In addition to being the time of the first harvest, in some traditions this is the time to honor Lugh, the Celtic craftsman god. He and other deities of the season are often the focus of these late summer harvest celebrations.
Lugh, the God of Craftsmanship
In Celtic legend, Lugh is the master of skills. While some craftsmen may specialize in one particular field, Lugh has mastered them all. He is the patron of smiths and bards, and the one who distributes talent to those willing to hone their craft. At Lammas, he is honored with the celebration of Lughnasadh. Lugh, the Craftsman
Deities of the Fields
When Lammastide rolls around, the fields are full and fertile. Crops are abundant, and the late summer harvest is ripe for the picking. This is the time when the first grains are threshed, apples are plump in the trees, and gardens are overflowing with summer bounty. In nearly every ancient culture, this was a time of celebration of the agricultural significance of the season. Because of this, it was also a time when many gods and goddesses were honored... Deities of the Fields
Country Fairs and Harvest Festivals
Lammas has often been the time of year when people in rural areas got together with their neighbors to mark the early harvest. In parts of Europe, and particularly the British Isles, Lammas became the season for country fairs. It's a time for gathering berries, celebrating Highland Games, and even the blessing of the first fruits... Country Fairs
Celebrate the Harvest with Ritual
Lammas is the time of year when the Goddess takes on the aspects of the Harvest Mother. The earth is fruitful and abundant, crops are bountiful, and livestock are fattening up for winter. However, the cold months are coming -- this is the season for harvesting corn and grain, so that we can bake bread to store and have seeds for next year's planting. This ritual celebrates the beginning of the harvest season and the cycle of rebirth... Lammas Harvest Rite
Tomorrow: Lammas Ritual and Ceremony
Tomorrow we'll talk about some rituals you can use to celebrate Lammas, as well as a warrior-themed meditation, and prayers to celebrate the season.
