Goddess is a Democrat !! Imagine the feedback from that statement in my
interviews with Riane Eisler and Starhawk on my radio show, Voices of
the Sacred Feminine. But what were we really saying in that statement
that might not have been immediately evident? We were saying the
strategy to move us toward that paradigm shift, into a post-kyriarchal
world, would not just be the use of secular law, but through a change in
thealogy - the mythology of the Sacred Feminine, deity, archetype and
ideal, might re-establish the foundations on our planet necessary for
sustainable future for all life and Mother Earth. Hear the line of
thought....presented at the WECSOR/American Academy of Religion by Dr.

What's Happening Today:

Summer is in full swing with our eye toward Lughnasadh in only a few weeks.Lughnasadh, (after the God Lugh) or Lammas ("Loaf-mass") celebrates the first harvest of grain. We start to see the days grow shorter as the fullness of summer wanes - the life force of the sun god is slowly draining into the earth since Litha. He has once again ensured a bountiful harvest.

Our altars are adorned summer flowers, fruits, and vegetables all in celebration of the Sun and the Earth's bounty. We bake bread to acknowledge the grain harvested and craft corn dollies as a spiritual manifestation of the harvest in honor of all that we have been given.

To personally align yourself with this time year, one should appreciate all that is bountiful, and begin to look at where we can reap the benefits of the hard work and energy

Marie au Ble - The third Monday in July was celebrated up until 1823 in Valenciennes with a parade. The street porters chose a girl, who dressed in white, led them on a dancing procession through the streets, proceeded by a boy carrying a tin plate covered with a white napkin on which were displayed the first grains of the year. These festivities went on for eight days. MacNeill believes this holiday was related to the first fruits festival of Lammas.MacNeill, Maire, The Festival of Lughnasa, Oxford University Press 1962

Goddess For Today: Alaghom Mayan New Year (Central America)

Goddess For Today: Alaghom
Mayan New Year (Central America)

Themes: Time; Destiny; Cycles; Magic
Symbols:  Calendars

About Alaghom:  In Mayan tradition, Alaghom created the ability to think, reason, and mark time using those skills.  She also designed the intangible parts of nature, which take us beyond concrete realities into the world of the goddess and her magic.

To Do Today:   Mayans believed that each day and year had its own god or goddess, and that this being governed destiny during its time frame.  So the new year was greeted with either joy or trepidation, depending on the divine persons in charge!  For our purposes, this means invoking Alaghom's aid in making every moment of our lives count, making them magical, and filling them with goddess energy.  Gather all your calendars and appointment books and place your hands, palms-down, over them.

"Alaghom, today is but one day out of many, yet let me recognize the possibilities that lie within it.  Give me the good judgment and sensibility to use my time wisely.  Help me make every day on earth something truly magical and filled with your power.  As I walk through this world, let me see beyond my eyes into the soul of creation.  Let me appreciate the abundant spiritual power in every blade of grass and stone, and most important, within myself.  So be it."

Nut of Creativity Spell Incense of the day: Pine

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:01 pm (PDT)

Nut of Creativity Spell
Incense of the day: Pine

With Mercury in Leo, this is an ideal time to work toward creative self-expression, particularly in school
or
business. A subtle yet powerful way to do this involves gathering one
common nutâ€"preferably an almond, pecan, or pistachio. Take the nut into
circle with you, creating sacred space as you do. Breathe deeply and
relax. Call upon the memories of times in your life when you were
creative. This may involve traditional artwork, dance or music,
redecorating or cooking, or just fantastic daydreams. Remind yourself
that you are a creative being, and send that knowledge into the nut.
Visualize the nut as a seed of this creativity that sprouts and grows in
your being. Ask that the nut find its own healthy outlet through you.
Carry the nut with you, trusting that this energy blossoms and grows
stronger each day.

Fiftieth Birthday Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:02 pm (PDT)

Fiftieth Birthday Spell

Reaching your fiftieth
birthday is a milestone. This spell considers the beginning and end of
your life, from the perspective of you at the middle. To start, dress
all in purple. On your altar, set three candles: white for your youth,
purple for the present, and black for the future. Light the first
candle, and spend a few minutes contemplating your early years. Then
light the second candle, thinking about what you have achieved already
and what you have yet to achieve. Finally, light the last candle,
meditating on reaching your unmet goals. Thank your patron deities and
ask them to help you complete your goals, then put out the candles.

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:03 pm (PDT)

13 Bewitching Kitchen Tips

1. A quartz crystal placed on or near the stove when cooking makes food taste better.

2. A pot of basil herb grown in your kitchen keeps the area safe from evil forces and negative spirits.

3. Candles keep their shape better and longer when chilled thoroughly in the refrigerator.

4. A witch's kitchen should never be without a lunar calendar or chart
showing the phases of the moon and its movement through the wheel of the zodiac.

5. A full moon increases extrasensory perception and is the ideal time
to prepare and use potions that increase the psychic abilities.

6. Love philters and aphrodisiacs should always be prepared during the
waxing of the moon.

7. The best time to plant an herb or vegetable gardens when the moon
is in Cancer, Scorpio, Libra or Pisces.

8. Homemade magickal incenses, sachets and potpourris become more
fragrant if aged several months before used.

9. Homemade incense always should be stored in tightly capped or corked jars.

10. Unlucky influences should be kept away from the when cooking or
preparing magickal recipes, and this is accomplished by stirring in a
clockwise direction.

11. An aloe vera plant should be kept on the kitchen, as its juices
are an instant cure for minor kitchen burns.

12. Herbal preparations should never be boiled in aluminum vessels,
but in only copper, earthenware or Pyrex to avoid contamination of the medicines.

13. Before casting spells or preparing potions, always keep in mind
the Wiccan Rede: "Do what ye will an' harm none." (Source Unknown)

ntroduction to Tarot: Week 1: Getting Started in Tarot

Introduction to Tarot

Week 1: Getting Started in Tarot
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
Welcome to the first lesson in your Intro to Tarot e-class! We'll spend the next six weeks learning all kinds of things about Tarot, from how to select a deck to what to do when readings fail. We'll also go into depth about the meanings of the Major Arcana, we'll talk about the cards in the four suits, and you'll learn three different layouts to use in your readings.

Let's go ahead and get started! Today, we're going to look at the basics of Tarot -- and even if you think you know Tarot, you should go ahead and read this anyway. We'll also discuss how to select and care for a deck of cards.
Tarot 101: A Basic Overview

What, exactly, is Tarot? To people unfamiliar with divination, it may seem that someone who reads Tarot cards is "predicting the future." However, most Tarot card readers will tell you that the cards offer a guideline, and the reader is simply interpreting the probable outcome based upon the forces presently at work. Let's look at the history of Tarot, and we'll discuss how the cards actually work. Go There

Selecting Your Tarot Deck

For a beginning Tarot reader, few tasks are as daunting as actually choosing that first deck. There are hundreds of different Tarot decks available. Some are based upon famous artwork, movies, books, legends, mythology, and even movies. Others proudly declare on their sparkly boxes that they are not just Tarot cards -- they are oracle cards, wisdom cards, healing cards, and all kinds of other things. Really, it can be a little overwhelming. Here are some tips on selecting the deck that works best for you. Go There

Keeping Your Cards Safe

So you've finally found the deck of Tarot cards that speaks to you -- congratulations! You've brought them home... but now what do you do with them? Learn how to "charge" your cards, and protect them from both physical damage and negative energy. Go There

Exercise: Explore Different Decks

So are you ready for your first homework assignment? We'll have one each week, and this first one is a fun one. Your exercise for the coming week is to go out and look at different Tarot decks. Ask friends if you can see theirs, go to bookstores and peek at the boxes, dig around at the local Wiccan Shoppe if you have one nearby. Get a feel for all the different decks that are available to you. If you find one you like enough to buy, that's great, but if you don't, that's okay too - your deck will come to you when you're ready.

Next Week: Get Ready to Read the Cards

Next week, we'll talk about how to prepare for a reading, and how to actually interpret the cards. We'll also look at the first group of cards in the Major Arcana, and discuss their meanings. Have a magical week!

Get Ready for Lammas!

Day 1: Introduction to Lammas
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
It's the dog days of summer, the gardens are full of goodies, the fields are full of grain, and the harvest is approaching. Take a moment to relax in the heat, and reflect on the upcoming abundance of the fall months. At Lammas, sometimes called Lughnasadh, it's time to begin reaping what we have sown throughout the past few months, and recognize that the bright summer days will soon come to an end. In this Seven-Day Sabbat course, we'll talk about the history of Lammas, ways you can mark the early harvest with rites and rituals, some Lammas magic, legends and folklore, craft projects, and even recipe ideas for your Lammas celebration.

Let's begin by looking at when Lammas actually takes place, as well as some of the history of this late summer holiday! We'll also discuss ideas for your Lammas altar, and you can view photos of other readers' altars as well.

When Is Lammas (Lughnasadh) 2011?

Although Lammas is celebrated in early August if you're above the equator, in the Southern Hemisphere it's observed at a different time of year. Read on to find out when Lammas falls in your part of the world... When is Lammas?

Lammas (Lughnasadh) History

Lammas celebrates the early grain harvest, and has a long history. This festival is celebrated by honoring the deities of the crops and fields. The Saxons, the ancient Romans, and the Celts are just a few of the early cultures that marked this important season with celebrations. Learn about how they observed the first harvest of the year...Lammas History

Your Lammas Altar
Setting Up Your Altar

This Sabbat is about grain and the harvest cycle of life, death and rebirth, so there are all kinds of creative ways you can set up for the season. From the scythe and sickle to loaves of bread and the early bounty of your own garden, there are all kinds of things you can use to decorate your Lammas altar! Setting Up Your Altar

Be one of the first readers to send in photos of your altar for our Lammas Altar Photo Gallery! Share your ideas, and then check back to see what other readers have done! Lammas Altars

DailyOM: Memories of the Soul

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:15 pm (PDT)

DailyOM - Past Life Regression
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

July 20, 2011
Memories of the Soul
Past Life Regression
The effects of a past life can manifest in your current life in many ways but should be used as a tool, not an excuse.

Inside our subconscious lie our memories from past lives. Though we seldom remember even having lived these past lives, the experiences we had living them have had a hand in shaping who we are today. The effects of a past life can manifest in a later lifetime in many ways - phobias, self-limiting beliefs, physical problems, or innate creative abilities. Violence, death, and trauma in a past life may show up as fear, uncontrollable anger, or low self-esteem in this one, while positive experiences from an earlier lifetime may cause you to feel strongly drawn to certain people, places, or objects without knowing why.

Many people turn to past life regression therapists to revisit their past lives. Past life regression allows you to recall the memories and emotions associated with a past life that continue to exert an influence over your present reality. You may not have even been aware that these experiences are still affecting you today. Past life regression therapy can offer you a unique opportunity to reconnect with these memories so you can understand them and free yourself.

To discover more about your past lives, consider keeping a notebook where you can record anything that could be a memory from a different lifetime. You may also feel drawn to a particular period in history, a seemingly unfamiliar locale, or a new person you’ve met who seems oddly familiar. Pick a time and choose a place where you can relax. Envision your body being filled with healing white light. Remember that nothing you see or hear will harm you. Ask yourself what you hope to achieve through regression and connect with your inner vision. Observe what you see without judgment. When you are done, think about how what you experienced relates to your present life. There may be beliefs from a past life that you are still operating under but are now ready to let go of. The significance of your past life memory may not be immediately obvious until much later. You can make the most of your past lives by learning from them. While past life regression can be
an exciting journey, it!
is not a substitute for living in the present where we are most needed right here and now.
