Alone in the woods in the deep dark of a late fall evening, you loose
your way; amid the nameless pines, and anonymous ash; turning east you
follow the moon, hoping she will lead you to some sign of the hand of
man; A Farmhouse, a Road, A sign ...
Then suddenly you are confronted by her
Tall, Silent, Watching you - A strange tool in her hands
The Moon conceals as much as reveals and you see no trace of her face,
no hint of her features, is she smiling on you or glaring at you; you
have no way to tell; Silent as the trees, Strong as the Earth, your eyes
strain to find where the forests mat of leaves ends and her gown begins;
and you begin to wonder - is she quite human, or is she something else;
some guardian of the woods momentarily dressed in human form.
The thought arrests you, and for a moment you cannot bring yourself to
step forward, and yet you dare not step back ... and yet you must choose
...

When I first drew This Image
<http://www.anar-mura.com/ >sketchbook/ anar/anar_ tarot-priestess. jpg
nearly 30 years ago, I very much wanted to communicate the sense of a
woman framed by an Arch in a Cathedral of Trees; so In many ways this
would be one of the first images to hold any sense of what would later
become so firm in my head as Anar.
The Mannequin face was on purpose, I was doing alot of work with
Mannequins then and it shows in the deck; several images have no
features; but it really fit this one better than any face I could have
given her would have; I wanted that sense of mystery, darkness; the
Surreal made real by the Moon. And while this color sketch at best
qualifies as bad refrigerator art; it does hint at what I have long
wanted to accomplish with this particular image.
Blessings, BB.
