The Broom Closet Revisited: What's Your Current Occupancy Rat

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Jul 7, 2011 7:02 pm (PDT)

The Broom Closet Revisited: What's Your Current Occupancy Rate?

Are you living more or less in the broom closet since last year? Does the current political climate make you more or less open about your beliefs with strangers or casual acquaintances than you used to be?

Are you worried or have you ever seriously considered that a modern day 'witch hunt' might target Pagans in the next few months/years?

Have you taken extra precautions to protect your private information or Pagan identity on the internet? At work? In your neighborhood?

Are you more or less inclined to speak up and/or identify yourself as a Pagan when discussing or writing about political, religious or social issues these days?

Summer Love Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Jul 7, 2011 8:16 pm (PDT)

Summer Love Spell
Incense of the day: Musk

On the seventh day of the
seventh month, Vega joins Altair over the Milky Way. The king of the sky had one daughter who worked long hours as the court weaver. Her name
was Vega, and she thought of nothing but the clothes she designed and
wove—that is until she met Altair. The two fell in love and spent so
much time together that in time the king's robes grew threadbare. The
couple ignored the king's warnings about their irresponsibility.
Enraged, the king separated them on either side of the Milky Way. As a
result, the lovers became ill with grief. Eventually, the king relented
and allowed the lovers this one day in the year to be together. To find
your true love today, you must decorate your altar with spools of
colored thread and flowers. Light two candles, one pink, one red, and
pray to the heavenly couple that you find your soul mate.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Citronella or Lemon Eucalyptus

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Jul 7, 2011 8:17 pm (PDT)

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Citronella or Lemon Eucalyptus
Iprefer lemon eucalyptus just because it has a slight lemon aroma
under that citronellal note instead of that weird, unpleasant note
you get with citronella. I've found that by misting myself with
either of these, I can reduce the mosquito bites. These two oils are
pretty effective at eliminating bug attacks.

* Fill a plant mister and mist your clothes (check for stain
resistance on some fabrics). Contrary to public opinion, you don't
need to put it on your skin. Just in proximity since mosquitoes are
repelled by smell. I'll usually spray a bit in the air and then walk
through it so my head/hair gets some.

* If you hang clothes on the line, put 1/4 oz in your rinse water
when you wash. If you use a dryer, the heat will flash off most of
the aroma although there will be some and, depending on how prone
you are to mosquito bites, will still act as an effective mosquito
repellent.

Ojibwa Firefly Song

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Jul 7, 2011 8:18 pm (PDT)

Fragments of fire,
darting white flames:
weave stars into my dreams.
Dancing white flames,
star-insects, fire-fragments:
wave stars across my dreams.
Flitting white fires,
dashing little fireflies:
waft your star-touch over my dreams.
~Ojibwa Firefly Song

Nature presents herself to us in such variety. In winter, trees make stark silhouettes against a leaden sky; in spring, soft colors draw the eye; in fall, the vivid hues of dying summer delight us.

And summer? Summer is a festival for all our senses. The sound of insects humming and buzzing, the blaze of color in flowers and leaves, the feel of warm breezes on our skin, the taste and smell of fresh food - we are lavished with beauty by our mother during the summer season.

Summer nights have their own special beauties. Whether we experience the opalescent white nights of the subartic of the humid heaviness of the south, we feel our senses stirred. And our souls as well, for our bodies and souls are not seperate but deeply interconnected. Summer nights stir memories, both lovely and frightening. The glimmer of fireflies lights our way to deeper and inner connection and peace, if we only let it.

Today's Goddess: Buddhabodhiprabhavasita Old Dance (Tibet)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Jul 7, 2011 8:22 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess: Buddhabodhiprabhavasita
Old Dance (Tibet)

Themes:  Wisdom; Mediation; Universal Law; Overcoming; Spirituality; BanishingSymbols:  Yellow; Prayer Wheel

About Buddhabodhiprabhavasita:  This Buddhist Goddess controls the awareness of Buddha, personifying
spiritual regeneration and the power of light to overcome any darkness
in our lives.  Since Buddhabodhiprabhavasita has the ear of Buddha, she
makes an excellent mediator and teacher of universal truths.

To Do Today:  In Tibet, this is a time for monks to bring out costumes fashioned
after Manchu dynasty tradition and dance in a parade to cymbals, flutes, gongs, and drums.  Their dance portrays the demons of hell fighting
against the favorite regional deities (who of course win the symbolic
battle by the end of the exhibition).  To adapt this, go through your
living space making lots of noise to banish any negativity that lurks
within.  Turn on the lights as you go to literally "turn on"
Buddhabodhiprabhavasita's power to overcome those problems, tensions,
and any residual bad feelings.

Wear something yellow
to invoke Buddhabodhiprabhavasita's insight within yourself, and use any wheel as the focus for your prayers.  For example, write your needs on
your automobile tires, or attach them to bicycle spokes so that each
time the wheel goes round, the prayer goes out to the Goddess!

DailyOM: A Self-Created State

DailyOM - Worry
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

July 7, 2011
A Self-Created State
Worry
Worry is an extension of fear and can also set you up for attracting that which you don't want in your life.

We have all had the experience of worrying about something at some point in our lives. Some of us have a habitual tendency to worry, and all of us have known someone who is a chronic worrier. Worry is an extension of fear and can be a very draining experience. In order for worry to exist, we have to imagine that something bad might happen. What we are worrying about has not happened yet, however, so this bad thing is by definition a fantasy. Understood this way, worry is a self-created state of needless fear. Still, most of us worry.

One reason we worry is because we feel like we're not in control. For example, you might worry about your loved ones driving home in bad weather. There is nothing you can do to guarantee their safe passage, but you worry until you find out they have reached their destination unharmed. In this instance, worry is an attempt to feel useful and in control. However, worrying does nothing to ensure a positive outcome and it has an unpleasant effect on your body, mind, and spirit. The good news is that there are ways to transform this kind of worry so that it has a healing effect. Just as worry uses the imagination, so does the antidote to worry. Next time you find that you are worrying, imagine the best result instead of anticipating the worst outcome. Visualize your loved ones' path bathed in white light and clearly see in your mind's eye their safe arrival. Imagine angels or guides watching over them as they make their way home. Generate peace and
well-being instead of nervousn!
ess and unease within yourself.

Another reason we worry is that something that we know is pending but are avoiding is nagging us—an unpaid parking ticket, an upcoming test, an issue with a friend. In these cases, acknowledging that we are worried and taking action is the best solution. If you can confront the situation and own your power to change it, you'll have no reason to worry.
