PHYSICAL PREDILECTIONS OF THE MOON
Part 1
Remember when your mother told you to be careful at play and to stay away from strangers? She insisted that you handle sharp objects carefully, avoid poison, and wear good shoes. She even told you not to stand under anything dangling from a rope. Back then, you thought she was a pessimist, but she wasn't. She was actually talking to your Moon.
While radical congenital difficulties are shown by your Sun, your Moon is also an important indicator of your health. Your Moon Sign describes acute illnesses, accidents, and acquired health problems either developed through habit or derived from your environment. Interpretations of the Moon's placement by sign usually explain the relationships, environments, or emotional responses you have with persons and situations met in life. Although not minute-by-minute accounts, they are the background routines that tend to have a strong influence on how you act and react. Actions, reactions, and inaction lead to patterns and habits that can develop into illness by inhibiting your good health and awareness. If you continually ignore your reactions with your surroundings, you could find yourself in a chronic state of discomfort.
Illness, Accident, and Recuperation
At your birth, the Moon was in a specific sign. Throughout your life, that natal position has described how your body responds to passing or repetitive illness and accidents. Though the Moon in your chart indicates these difficulties, it also provides you with certain strengths and personal healing techniques to withstand them. For instance, each Moon sign endows a healing light. During hospital stays or prolonged rest, you can bathe in the glow of colored light to enhance your recuperation and healing.
With such information, you can intervene against illness and use your strengths to remain healthy. An insightful or holistic healthcare provider, with an understanding of medical astrology, will give you more information and help you ward off health problems by training you to change destructive habits or minimize them with preventative care.
Moon in Aries
The Aries temperament is known for its impetuosity. You jump straight into any fracas at top speed without thinking and often get in over your head. In the body, Aries rules the head, the muscular system, and the adrenal glands, which pump adrenaline into the bloodstream and account for a body's vigor, speed, and abrupt changes.
Speed characterizes the types of ailments and accidents of the Moon in Aries. Your illnesses tend to be immediate or heated: facial neuralgia, twitches, fever, gum infections, headaches, hemorrhaging or bleeding, inflammations, measles, muscular spasms, convulsions, postnatal drip, sharp pains, sores, toothaches, tinnitus of the ears, vertigo, or weakness of the eyes. As a matter of habit, you can exhaust yourself by attempting to simulate adrenaline rushes through overconsumption of stimulants in coffee, tobacco, and pills. Accidents, including animal bites, burns, cuts, crashes, and scalded skin, are quick and happen regularly.
To avoid health problems, you benefit from regular heath examinations and early attention to aches, pains, and twinges. When recuperating, bathe in a bright red light or wear red to evoke your sense of hope and energy.
Moon in Taurus
Deliberation and deliberative action describe Taurus. Being a person of few words, you prefer to take your time, observing activities and resources before you step into situations. Once committed, however, you are in for the log haul. Taurus rules the throat, neck, and the thyroid gland, which regulates the body's metabolism through rise and fall of internal temperature.
Taurus illnesses tend to be durational. Generally, your throat is the target of soreness, dryness, and tonsillitis. Your propensity to wait and see is not a blessing, as throat problems could cause abscesses or membranous growths. Your ability to wait also reflects in your body, where you usually tend to put on pounds from low activity or an underactive thyroid. At the same time, you generally are not accident-prone since you cannot be rushed into anything and always look ahead for problems.
For the most part, you are usually in good health, although you need regular exercise to release accumulated poisons in the body. Overall, your health depends on and benefits from plain eating and living. During periods of recuperation, use a pale-blue light or wear pale blue, which will increase demonstrativeness, kindness, tenderness, and sympathy.
Moon in Gemini
Butterflies must be Geminis, they're constantly in motion and just as hard to catch. As a Gemini, you are adroit at juggling many activities at once and need constant stimulation. Not much of an eater, you are thought to survive on your nerves alone. Gemini rules the arms and shoulders, the brain, the neural network throughout the body, the lungs, and the autonomic activity of respiration.
Many of Gemini's ills concern the breath and nerves, which are overwrought and gradually weakened by constant activity and poor rest. Your desire to be ever-ready for the new, different, and exciting makes you open to lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, or pleurisy of the lung lining. Without proper attention, you run the risk of viral pneumonia and tuberculosis. Nervous disorders manifest as weak arms and shoulders, with wandering or shooting pains, sleeplessness, and insomnia. You experience accidents such as breaking your arms or collarbones, and you can be prone to automobile fender benders.
Rest is your greatest medicine; however, when recuperation is required, a light or clothing in pale yellow will steady your mind, increase mental continuity, and release you from the bonds of sensation.
Moon in Cancer
Adaptable Cancer has a magnetic attraction to the suffering of others. In an attempt to create comfort, you tend to take on others' worries and illnesses. Cancer rules the breasts, mammary glands, and the preparatory digestive system, which includes the alimentary canal, stomach, pancreas, and gallbladder. The stomach, pancreas, and gallbladder prepare food for absorption in the intestinal tract.
Your ailments arise from irregularity. Overeating, junk foods, long intervals between meals, or repetitious eating leads to chronic illness such as food allergies and digestive malabsorption. Imbalanced nutrition overburdens the stomach and deteriorates the pancreas and gallbladder, causing heartburn, indigestion, and stomach ulcers. Food that is not properly treated in the first digestive process cannot be absorbed in the intestines, which leaves the body's cells starved, creating edema (water retention), or a general malfunctioning and abnormal growth (cancer). Accidental poisonings arise from tainted foods and impure water.
Set a standard for pure living, know where your food comes from and how it is prepared. Breaking the habits of junk food and sweets early will minimize your tendency to heavier weight later in life. Any time you are in recuperation, use a pale violet light or clothing to expunge magnetic transfers from others and soften your awareness of serious illness.
Moon in Leo
Leo has a very regal presence and is the epitome of commitment, directing projects or developing relationships to their natural end. You play and work hard, sometimes overdoing things to the detriment of your health. Leo rules the back, spinal column, and heart--major supports for other body systems. It also rules the thymus, an endocrine gland which generates the immunological defense system in early childhood.
Your illnesses relate to strain on the back, spine, and heart. Because you have a strong constitution, overexertion and physical stress can result in lumbago of the lower back or heart afflictions, such as palpitations and heart attack. When your body is not replenished with food, water, or rest, you are prone to fainting and, in extreme hot weather, sunstroke and heat exhaustion. Generally, you are not prone to accidents, being more careful about your actions than most signs.
You are endowed with a great vitality and strong constitution, although overdoing it can wear you down. Because you keep a youthful self-image, you need to develop a measured pace for work and play after mid-life. During any recuperation period or when you need a rest, use an orange light to deter disease and to strengthen weak tissues.

PHYSICAL PREDILECTIONS OF THE MOON
Part 2
Moon in Virgo
Virgo is logic and practicality personified. Because everything you do is governed by processes, schedules, and rules, relaxation often turns to overindulgence in eating, dancing, or some other constant activity. Virgo partially rules the nervous system, transmitting messages throughout the body from the brain to the small intestines, absorbing nutrients from foods and supplements for transmission to the bloodstream to other parts of the body.
Because you are prone to worry over deadlines, your illnesses manifest as intestinal difficulties, such as colic, constipation, cramping, dysentery, obstructions, and spasms. Mental worries also arise from your need to overcome restrictions and stay within the rules, resulting in nervous tension and an overworked brain. Accidents happen when you are traveling on foot, during hikes and climbs, or when you are overworked.
Easily influenced by your general surroundings, you need a balanced diet to compensate for physical and mental stress and to keep your digestive pathway working properly. Conquer tendencies to overindulge in foods, which burdens operations of the small intestines. Enhance recuperation by using a light or clothing in pale orange to remind you to choose wise conduct in meeting your health needs. Follow this with pale yellow, which will turn your mind toward caring, differentiating thought.
Moon in Libra
Libra loves exclusive, one-on-one relationships. Your sense of fair play makes you sensitive to others' viewpoints. However, your greatest need is to express your singular opinion at the exclusion of anyone else's attitude. Libra rules the urinary system, including the kidneys, bladder, and lumbar region of the back.
Even the most egalitarian of minds can debilitate into stone. Libra demonstrates the principle. You are what you think. The root of illness and health problems begin to when you fail to speak up, disagree, or stand apart. Libra experiences kidney stones, a general physical debility or weakness, and muscular paralysis. Accidents, arguments, and upsets generally produce kidney troubles. Problems of urinary release create a sympathetic elimination problem in the colon, which can become ulcerated.
You need to exercise and flex your body as much as you do your mind. Because you respond to other people, your recuperation can be easily disrupted by visitors. Use sky-blue light or clothing to keep environmental influences at bay and repel others' psychic emanations.
Moon in Scorpio
Scorpio is characterized by intensity, passion, and retaliation. You do nothing halfway, and the ever-present urgent voice makes you plumb the depths of individual expression. Only afterwards do you feel justified in throwing yourself into a frenzied celebration of life and love. Scorpio rules the large intestine and the reproductive system, including the sexual organs, ovaries, testes, and prostate gland.
Scorpio has been dubbed the hypochondriac. But your ailments are often hidden, either because they are taboo, such as venereal disease, or because your cellular patterning has been disturbed over time by chemical poisoning, radiation sickness, or toxicity from fumes. Other physical problems include swellings, ruptures, and hemorrhoids. You experience accidents near chemical plants, environmental spills, and nuclear sites.
Lethargy affects the colon, which operates more efficiently with exercise. Although others fear your intensity, do not frustrate your sex drive, or you run the risk of becoming cruel or violent. Your recuperations are usually self-imposed, because you need to release deep energy vortices in your body and aura and these problems are not addressed by most physicians. Use rose crimson-colored light or clothing to strengthen your self-control and open your heart to a more impersonal, universal love.
Moon in Sagittarius
Sagittarius is the court jester of signs. Always ready with a smile or joke, you juggle and back-flip through the demands of the day with boundless energy. Keeping up expectations takes a toll, however, so you often give into overindulgence and food and activities. Sagittarius rules the controlling parts of the body such as the hips and thighs, which permit standing; the pituitary gland, which gives direction to all other glands; and the largest organ of the body, the liver, which filters and purifies the blood.
Many of your ailments arise through indulgence in food, work, or play. Excessive eating, besides adding weight, inhibits proper food absorption, which can introduce unprepared particulate matter into the bloodstream and overburden the liver. Consequently, you may fall ill with blood disorders, such as anemia from poor absorption of minerals, or sluggish blood from poor circulation. If bodily systems are hampered, these blood ills could compound into leukemia. Failure to exercise your body can result in lameness, with aches through the hip joints, thighs, and into the knees. Accidents, especially broken legs, occur during vacation, sports, or anytime you try to overcompensate for sedentary habits.
Clearly, you need exercise to keep blood moving and prevent excessive weight. During recovery periods, use an indigo blue light or clothing. This outwardly soothing, yet inwardly stimulating, color will spark your imagination and help you study the causes of your ills, which frequently stem from past life influences on your present conditions.
Moon in Capricorn
Like the ant who prepared for winter, Capricorn understands the necessities of life. While others stick to the moment, you take responsibility in planning for the future while securing the present. Capricorn rules the teeth, knees, skeletal system, and the preparatory and support structures for the body. Its organs are the skin, which possesses finely tuned sensing abilities, and the spleen, which removes dying red blood cells.
When you are oversensitized, you experience skin problems, such as acne, eczema, hives, impetigo, psoriasis, and shingles. These, if ignored, can fester. Structural problems come from inadequate hygiene or movement, resulting in arthritis, dental troubles, bone disorders, obstructed movement (especially the knees), and rheumatism. Dull, heavy aches or pain, colds throughout the body with chills, and all wasting diseases fall within the province of Capricorn. Mishaps and accidents include blows, bruises, contusions, dislocations, falls, and being struck by falling objects.
Born in the midst of wintry cold, which imitates the chill of the grave, you need spring green to uplift your recuperative periods and stimulate a fondness for knowledge. Bathe in or wear this color throughout any illness or when you know aches and pains have their root in too much responsibility. Always remember that spring follows winter.
Moon in Aquarius
Unpredictable and inventive, Aquarius is the most independent sign. Alone but never lonely, your imagination begins where others meet a boundary. Aquarius rules the lower leg, ankles, circulatory system, and pineal gland, which controls the stability of the mind and is the entrance for divine revelation.
Because your mind is electrified with unusual ideas and knowledge, your illnesses manifest from the body-mind relationship. Hysterics, nervous disorders, and psychological disturbances are common, but can be laid to rest when you sort out your thinking. Circulatory problems such as blood diseases, hardening of the arteries, lower leg pain, stroke from clogged arteries, and varicose veins can hamper you. In keeping with the unusual and unidentifiable, uncommon disorders, rare diseases, incurable disorders, and catastrophic epidemics are controlled by Moon in Aquarius. Accidents include electrocution, fractures of the shins and ankles, machine accidents, and all unexpected or strange hurts.
True to Aquarius, your healing light is very different from other signs. Because your nerves and psychic aura and are easily strained from persistent receptivity, use multicolored, plain, paisley, and variegated cloth over a white light, or wear any of these designs, to cultivate tolerance and perception from many viewpoints.
Moon in Pisces
Delicate, kind, and compassionate are qualities that exemplify Pisces. Understanding is your byword, and your perspective on things lets you see the common threads running through humanity's suffering, pain, and ills. Though deeply immersed in alleviating the pain of others, your recognize the need to protect and nurture your heart and its unbounded charity. Pisces rules the feet and sensory transmissions through the nervous system. It also governs the thalamus, which transmits stimuli between the associative parts of the brain and the sensory organs.
Melancholia, mental complaints, and obsessions are attributed to Pisces. Because the thalamus participates in associative thought processes and viewpoint development, look for difficulties with the sensory organs, including the skin, or pressure on the brain from infected sinus cavities, concussion, or skull fracture. Physical ailments relate to the feet, including bunions, chilling cold, dampness, and a wandering gout throughout the feet or located in one toe. All foot problems for Pisces are severe, potentially impeding walking and standing. Accidents occur during travel or recreation on water, and while inebriated, drugged, or improperly medicated. During these periods, sensory messages become confused, entangled, or garbled, or the feet cannot maintain their stance.
Owing to your bodily hypersensitivity, all medicines must be carefully administered. Your feet affect the entire body, so shoes must be well-fitted and supportive. Being drawn to and sometimes overwhelmed by any animal or person in pain or suffering, you must stay hopeful and kind. Through healing periods or any time you replenish your bodily or psychic energies, use a silver gray light or clothing that will clarify, refine, and purify your relationships with loved ones and companions.
Sympathetic Triggers or Illness
Every twenty-eight years, the Moon reveals a fascinating journey and signals of developing illness by making a full progression through the zodiac. This movement is regular, producing periods of sympathetic illness related to your natal position. If you are aware of this possibility, you can treat the sympathetic illness with the appropriate remedy and take steps to avert or minimize a future health crisis.
As the Moon makes its zodiacal trek, it comes in waxing square, opposition, and waning square, before returning to its natal place. The approximate age periods of the waxing square are 7, 35, 63, and 91. The age periods for the opposition are 14, 42, 70, and 98. The waning square occurs at ages 21, 49, 77, and 105. The Moon returns to its natal position at ages 28, 56, 84, and 112.
As these aspects occur, you should look at the sign in which the Moon has progressed. Study will help you understand how illnesses or accidents in the progressed sign exacerbate ailments of the natal. For example, when the Moon progresses to opposition in Libra from natal Aries, kidney or urinary difficulties may arise related to overstressed adrenal glands. Unless you take precautions, you may have problems when the Moon returns to Aries. Also, as the Moon progresses to waxing square in Sagittarius from natal Virgo, Sagittarian overeating and sense of sluggishness will disturb the absorption powers of the small intestines. Clearly, Virgo needs a careful diet to withstand the influence of expansive Sagittarius. And during the Moon's passage into waning square from Scorpio to natal Aquarius, long periods of lethargy or sedentary habits will disturb the circulatory system, which can later manifest as varicose veins in the legs. Walking regimens will keep both problems at bay.
In general, the square and opposition fall within the same quadruplicity. In other words, cardinal signs have cardinal aspects, fixed signs, fixed aspects, and mutable signs, mutable aspects. The following list shows the natal sign and the sympathetic signs for waxing square, opposition, and waning square:
Moon in Aries: Cancer, Libra, Capricorn
Moon in Taurus: Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
Moon in Gemini: Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces
Moon in Cancer: Libra, Capricorn, Aries
Moon in Leo: Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus
Moon in Virgo: Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini
Moon in Libra: Capricorn, Aries, Cancer
Moon in Scorpio: Aquarius, Taurus, Leo
Moon in Sagittarius: Pisces, Gemini, Virgo
Moon in Capricorn: Aries, Cancer, Libra
Moon in Aquarius: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio
Moon in Pisces: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius
No magic is involved here. Self-awareness, a good diet, positive health habits, and a good healthcare provider will ward off many of these ills. Staying alert to your surroundings will keep you from having accidents. But, foremost, remember Mom and her words of wisdom. Play carefully, work carefully, and get plenty of good rest. You're going to be just fine!

Meanings of the Lunar Phases
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99

MEANINGS OF THE LUNAR PHASES
Every time the Moon enters a new phase -- lasting for about 2-1/2 days each -- there's a shift in the electro-magnetic field of Earth. Learn the characteristics of each phase and you'll be guided into taking appropriate action, whether in personal or business relationships. The power and consciousness behind each lunar phase is awesome. Let the Moon support you. It will show you how to stay emotionally and physically balanced and also put money in your pocket. The Moon governs the general public, sales, and business in general.
The overall cycle of the phases governs the acceleration or deceleration of growth and momentum. Ideally, start projects and build them when the Moon is increasing in light -- "waxing" -- from New Moon to Full Moon. From the Full Moon to the oncoming New Moon, the Moon is decreasing in light -- "waning" -- and this is when you want to bring whatever activities you can to a completion. Keep this ebb and flow of energy in mind and you'll have an invaluable tool to help you flow with the tide of events, rather than against them. Each phase represents a segment of time within the monthly lunation cycle as a whole. With practice you will begin to see how each phase is not an isolated period within itself, but rather a consequence of the previous phase and a preparation for the following one. In other words "Space is Curved." Whatever you send out will come back to you at the appropriate time, and it's a good idea to know where you stand in the overall cycle. Understanding the luna r
rhythms will also save on panic and worry, as you realize that everything in life unfolds in exactly the right moment.
New Moon - "Beginnings." Subjective-Inner awareness starts to open new seed-ideas begins to unfold in the inner consciousness. Expand into the world of ideas, allow the outrageous wanderings of the mind, open to unlimited possibilities, watch the birthing of the idea into thought. Let it unfold in the quiet.
Crescent - "Growth." The research phase. Ask the big questions - the why? Shape, mold, dance with the newly realized seed-idea. Ask yourself: How can I bring my vision into the material world? Gathering knowledge prepares you to take future action. First Quarter - "Action." Take action in the outer world. Pick up hammer and nails and build new structures. There's an urgency about facing the challenge of the moment. Move forward, or be buried in the past. Stand up or sit down, but don't wobble. Gibbous - "Analysis." Make adjustments to clarify your sense of direction. Without expecting absolute perfection, continue to move toward self-improvement. Be comfortable with yourself. Assess and analyze projects. You have a better idea where you're headed.
Full Moon - "Illumination." The outer structure is complete and ready to be filled with content. The completion is the culmination of the seed-idea of the New Moon. Sense where you fit into the overall scheme of life. These 3-1/2 days represent the beginning of maximum fruitfulness. Favors public exposure and events. Disseminating - "Networking. " Give something back to the community. You are now ready to make a contribution. What you know has value even if you may have doubts about its worth. Find common ground through discussions. You can make a powerful mental impression on others because of your ideals and vision.
Last Quarter - "Results." Enjoy the harvest of your labors. This can be the most productive time for completions and gaining results. Success in business and personal affairs. The next question is: "Now that I've achieved what I want, what do I do with it?" Begin to let it go. Balsamic - "Releasing the Past." Turn away from thought and drop into the quiet. Emptiness is the fertile ground that recognizes and encourages the presence of the new seed. Regeneration. A time of cleansing. Inner time and reflection bring you back into emotional, physical and spiritual balance
The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

The Moon and Your Pets
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Wed Jul 13, 2011 8:43 pm (PDT)
THE MOON AND YOUR PETS
There are two planets we "love with," astrologically speaking--the
Moon and Venus. Both are known as feminine energies, and so both are magnetic rather than pursuant--that is, we use them to draw who and what we love to
us, rather than dashing out to chase it down (a task better left to our
Sun and our Mars). Both the Moon and Venus, then, produce "bonds" of a
sort--emotional ties--but the motivation behind these bonds is very
different. Our Venus bonds are created with personal gratification
in mind. We attract who or what we do because it pleases us to have it or them around us--they make us feel good, and we derive satisfaction from them.
The bonds the Moon produces, however, are of an unconditional nature, based on
urges that are very pure. We love, nurture, and tend to the needs of the
other with our Moons simply because we care, without asking anything in
return for ourselves. We let down our guard and express our emotions for
another because we trust. We protect those we love with our Moons because we feel an innate responsibility for their well-being.
THE MOON AND HER ROLE IN BONDING
Now, the person we first shared this type of Moon-love with was Mom.
No bond we'll ever make throughout our lives will replace it--or even come
close. How could it? After all, this is the human whose body we actually
lived inside. That's quite a connection. It's natural, then, that we
learn all about love, trust, and protection from our mothers. We bond
similarly with our own children because they, too, came from our bodies, and with our other family members because they're blood--another way of saying the same thing. Outside of those ties, however, there's only one type of nurturing,
emotional bond most of us make throughout our lives that also reflects the
urges of our moons--to love, nurture, and protect--and that's the bond that we share with our pets.
The bond between humans and animals is legendary, as well it should
be. Our pets love us, and allow us to love them, with the unconditional Moon-
love of a family member. No matter what our mood--a great Moon word--they
love us, accept us, and offer us affection at the end of a long day.
Moreover, they allow us to use our Moons on them, to mother them by feeding and taking care of them--something childless folks would never have an opportunity to do, and parents of grown children often miss. In all, our pets provide us with the love and affection that make our Moons secure and happy.
WHO BONDS WITH WHAT
All this said, it stands to reason that the types of pets we choose
have an awful lot to do with our Moons, both by sign and by house. Now, the
house where our Moon "lives" shows where or under what circumstances we'll
feel most comfortable expressing our urge to nurture and care for
another. The sign she "wears" describes specifically what we look for to pour our nurturing urges over. Let's talk about the Moon by house first,
specifically about the houses that pertain to our pets.
THE HOUSES
The Sixth House Moon
Traditionally, pets have always been assigned to the sixth house.
Small pets, that is--domestic pets that we tend to, that become part of our
daily sixth-house duties. The theory is that these beasts are in our lives
to serve, to kill the mice in the barn, keep the sheep in line, and
protect us from intruders. Rather like hired help, you might say--which also
relates back to the ancient concept of seeing the sixth house as the house of
slavery. Now, personally, I find this concept hysterical. Not the
idea of slavery and pets, you understand. That makes perfect sense--for a
number of reasons. First off, because they sure do have us trained well.
Whenever Benji or Fluffy get that look on their fuzzy little faces, we
immediately drop whatever we're doing and head for the door. Not to mention the fact that we certainly do not only go out and work our paws to the bone to
bring home the magic cans, but since we also (handily) have opposable
thumbs to open the above-mentioned cans, we also open them on a regular basis. Now, all of these qualities are, I'm sure, among the reasons they keep
us. So, again, although I can definitely see the connection between slavery
and pets, it's not because they're the slaves--at least not around here.
At any rate, if you have the Moon in the sixth house, you probably
do "tend" to critters on a daily basis. You may just have a pack of resident
critters, or you may actually work with animals--since the sixth house also
relates to what we do for work on a daily basis. You may find yourself involved
in veterinary care, then, if the Moon is here. You may also work at a
kennel, shelter, or groomers--but on some level, you'll find yourself serving
the residents of the animal kingdom.
The Fifth House Moon
Now, some folks also put pets in the fifth house, since this is the
house where we deal with the issue of lovers, playmates, and children.
This makes sense, too--we kiss, cuddle, spoil, and pamper our pets as if they
were our lovers. They even sleep with us. We also treat them, at times, like
children, promising them a cheeseburger after a trip to the doctor,
explaining things to them as if they really understand our words--and
I'm of the belief that they just might--and worrying about their feelings.
They're definitely our playmates--who else would tirelessly chase down a
Frisbee, just to keep us amused? If your Moon is in the fifth house, then,
you probably have this type of loving relationship with your pets.
MOON SIGNS & PETS
Of course, the sign the Moon wears is like a costume that tells us
how she'll go about the business of nurturing. It's also an indication of the
types of people and things we'll love. Let's look at the Moon through the
signs, and talk about which type of pet will appeal to you.
Aries
Well, it's no secret that the Moon in this sign isn't shy. She's one
of the most brazen ladies out there, matter of fact, so you won't ever have
to wonder what she's feeling. She'll stomp her feet and holler when
she's angry, and purr like a kitten when she's pleased. She likes people
and things that are tough--ram-tough, you might say--and so, failing a
ram, this Moon-sign will feel most secure and comfy in the company of tough
critters: dogs that are known as fighters, for example like pitbulls and
dobermans. Since she also learned early on to raise herself, this Moon sign will
also have a special place in her heart for animals that are largely
self-sufficient, and animals that, while they may love their owner,
don't need them as much as others--like some cats, for example.
Taurus
Here's the Moon in her earthy best, fully appreciating the wonders of
the physical world. This Moon sign will appreciate creatures that
reflect her sturdy, rugged nature, so she'll be drawn to sturdy beasts, those
that are literally worth their weight. In the dog department, any huge,
rugged beast will do--although bulldogs and bull mastiffs do come to mind for
obvious reasons. Taurus Moons may also be drawn to farm animals, like bulls
or cows, or to other animals that are hard workers.
Gemini
Gemini's love of variety knows no bounds--so if your Moon is here,
she's built for mental stimulation, light examinations of everything, and
at least two of whatever she loves. This is an air sign, remember, and the
air signs are intellectual creatures. The Moon in this sign, then, will be
drawn to birds, most likely, and to birds that talk, especially--like magpies,
parrots, and cockatiels. Since this sign also rules the neighborhood, and
the smaller world, she'll also enjoy miniature pets, like miniature
horses, dogs, etc., and those that have the incredible lightness of being
that Gemini is famous for. Other Gemini Moon pets might include mice, gerbils,
or hamsters. Ferrets are among the creatures that Gemini Moons might
like, since their characteristics read like a string of Gemini keywords:
quick, lively, fun, playful, and in constant motion.
Cancer
Your Cancer Moon wants to nurture what she loves as if it were her
child, so when it comes to choosing a pet, she'll always prefer to take home a
baby, rather than a full-grown animal. Smaller critters she can coddle
happily on her lap--like tiny dogs, as per Gemini Moon will also appeal to her,
and she'll always love to be around litters of animals--because babies
and Moms always were her specialty. In general, however, a Cancer Moon will
love and care for any living creature, so any pet will adapt to her style, and
she to theirs.
Leo
Leo Moons belong to folks who have the hearts and souls of
performers. Needless to say, then, their pets necessarily ought to be eyecatchers--with striking, dramatic characteristics. Now, a lion, of course, would make an ideal companion for a Leo Moon, but since that's out of the question, cats--the closest living relative--will do, and the more lion-like
the cat, the better. Dogs make great pets for Leo Moons, too, because of the emotion they lavish on us. Leo Moons like that, you know.
Virgo
Okay, everyone knows that Virgo has a long-term association with the
plant kingdom, but plants aren't pets--are they? Well, sure they are--ask
any Virgo Moon, as they buzz happily about their apartment, watering
their plants. Now, with Virgo's well-known fondness for neatness, cats are
also good pets for this Moon sign. Siamese, of course, are the best--they
don't shed at all, and they're as particular about their owners as Virgo
Moons are about their pets.
Libra
Libra Moons love balanced situations, and they love to be with an
other--so animals that pair up are their absolute favorites, like love birds
for example, and other beasts that mate for life. Since Libra is a Venus-
ruled sign that's known for its love of beauty--in all forms--your Libra
Moon will also be attracted to strikingly beautiful animals: pedigrees,
purebreds, and so forth. Libra also loves color, and pastels in particular, so
she'll be fond of birds of multiple colors, especially those with soft-hued
feathers, like exotic or tropical birds.
Scorpio
Scorpio Moons just love to be scared--it's how they know that they're
alive. In fact, if it's an animal that frightens others, a Scorpio Moon will
just love it. This Moon sign, then, is the one that will be drawn to
strange pets, to scary pets--like snakes, tarantulas, and black cats--and
this is also the Moon sign that may enjoy keeping a bat-house out in the
yard. Of course, Scorpio likes anything that's black--so no matter what type
of pet they choose, they'll want it to have a shiny blue-black coat.
Sagittarius
As outdoorsy as Sag Moons tend to be, they have a natural affinity
with horses and dogs--of any kind. (Dogs, in fact, are ruled by
Sagittarius). Big ol' dawgs will always be a Sag Moon's favorite kind of canine, a critter big enough to wrap your arms around and hug. Mutts, too, are among Sag's choice of beast, since they're mixtures of nationalities- -and Sag always was fond of foreigners.
Capricorn
Well, Capricorn is the sign of the goat, so it won't be a surprise to
find this Moon sign as the proud owner of a goat of their very own. This
Moon sign also has a fondness for functional beasts, however -- for those that
serve a purpose or have a job to do: protective creatures like German
shepherds, for example, or other animals that are specially trained to sniff out
drugs and explosives, track down missing persons, and stand guard over their
owners or their owner's business.
Aquarius
Aquarian Moons are here to break tradition, to prove to all of us--
especially to their families--that they're completely different from we are.
This Moon sign, then, will tend toward strange, unusual, or unique beasts--dogs
with three legs or one eye, for example, and others that are totally
unlike any pet anyone else has. Because, like Pisces, Aquarius also has a
fondness for the underdog. Aquarian Moons will also be quite fond of animals from the pound, and those who didn't have long to live whose causes they took
on.
Pisces
Well, you can hardly mention Pisces without mentioning fish, so, of
course, the ideal pet for Pisces Moons would have to be fish--if for o other
reason than that they provide the ideal reason for Pisces Moons to have
running water around--their favorite sound. Now, Pisces Moons also have an
innate affinity with strays of any kind, so any homeless animal--especially
one that shows up looking like it's lost, hungry, or frightened--will find its
way into the soft heart of a Pisces Moon.

I can't use ladybugs. These are indoor plants and cannot be put outside
because of the location from which they came. Most of them are desert
plants so the Florida climate would ruin them and I'm not about to turn a
flock of ladybugs loose in my office! :D
